SEVENTEEN's HAPPY BURSTDAY sells 2.27M copies on release day, setting record post FML, HEAVEN, SPILL THE FEELS success

SEVENTEEN (SVT) is back at it again—breaking records like it's just another Tuesday. The 13-member K-pop powerhouse celebrated their 10th debut anniversary in true SEVENTEEN style: by casually obliterating sales charts with their latest mini album, HAPPY BURSTDAY (HBD). Because what says 'Happy Anniversary' better than making history? On May 26, SVT's official debut date, they dropped HAPPY BURSTDAY, and boom—2,269,401 copies flew off shelves (well, digital shelves too) in a single day. According to Hanteo Chart, this makes it the highest first-day sales for any K-pop act in 2025. Talk about blowing out candles with a hurricane. Record-Smashing Royalty SEVENTEEN isn't just a group—they're a well-oiled record-breaking machine. They don't even try to smash records anymore; they just show up, vibe with CARATs (their ever-dedicated fandom), perform with joy, pride and history is made. Again. HAPPY BURSTDAY now ranks as the 4th highest first-day sales in K-pop history, trailing only behind their albums: FML – 3,998,373 copies SEVENTEEN: HEAVEN – 3,288,017 copies SPILL THE FEELS – 2,494,180 copies SEVENTEEN now holds five spots in the top ten all-time first-day sales rankings. And guess what? Fans and industry watchers alike are now expecting HAPPY BURSTDAY to cross the coveted three-million mark within its first week. Global Domination, One Track at a Time SEVENTEEN's global reach? Stronger than ever. HAPPY BURSTDAY climbed to No. 2 on the Worldwide iTunes Albums Chart, hit No. 1 on iTunes in 15 countries, and landed on Europe's iTunes Top Albums Chart like it owned the place. Meanwhile, lead single Thunder lit up the iTunes Top Songs chart in 13 different regions. And they didn't stop there. Thunder also cracked the Melon TOP 100, a feat that practically screams Legendary. Solo Tracks? More Like Solo Slays Here's the kicker: the album doesn't just ride on one or two bangers. HAPPY BURSTDAY is a fan buffet, featuring 13 solo tracks from every single member and 3 group tracks. Jungle – S. Coups Coincidence – Jeonghan Fortunate Change – Joshua Gemini – Jun 99.99% – Wonwoo Damage – Hoshi Destiny – Woozi Skyfall – THE8 Shake It Off – Mingyu (Taylor Swift, is that you?) Happy Virus – DK (warning: it's contagious) Shining Star – Vernon Raindrops – Seungkwan Trigger – Dino SEVENTEEN'S HAPPY BURSTDAY Reaction SEVENTEEN's HAPPY BURSTDAY is more than an album. It's a celebration of growth, fandom, chaos, and charisma (with just a sprinkle of goofiness). Whether you're a long-time CARAT or a casual listener who got sucked in by THUNDER, this release is impossible to ignore. So pop the confetti, stream the album, and maybe learn the Thunder dance if you dare—because SEVENTEEN just gave their CARATs all a birthday gift wrapped in chart-smashing greatness.

Generate Key Takeaways K-pop star S. Coups is Boss' newest global ambassador, the brand announced on Monday. The singer is expected to be featured in forthcoming campaigns and style pieces from the German-based fashion label at high-profile events. 'Known for his outstanding leadership and sophisticated style, S. Coups brings a bold presence both on and off the stage — setting the tone for a powerful synergy with Boss,' the brand said via statement. More from WWD S. Coups for Boss. Since his rise to fame, S. Coups' profile has conquered his space in the fashion world. In July 2024, he was announced as brand ambassador to Spanish fashion house Loewe, and he attended the label's spring 2025 show during Paris Fashion Week in September. S. Coups' appointment as Boss' global ambassador follows the label's collaboration with David Beckham on the Boss One Bodywear collection campaign, which was released in January and featured the former soccer star modeling underwear from the German apparel brand. Boss' newfound partnership with the K-pop star also comes after the label struggled with sales in 2024, per a WWD report from last November. 'You know, 2024 was a difficult year for nearly all brands. I think the world was kind of upside down from all perspectives, and it was for our customers,' said Daniel Greider, chief executive officer of Hugo Boss. 'There was less traffic and people were not in a mood to buy. I cannot talk about the year-end yet, but we had a better second half than the first half. So things eased a bit up.' Along with Beckham, S. Coups joins the likes of Lee Jong Suk, Naomi Campbell, Gisele Bündchen, Burna Boy and Matteo Berrettini as the brand's ambassadors. Generate Key Takeaways On Monday, new Boss global ambassador attended the Met Gala wearing a custom look inspired by a Korean hanbok jeogori jacket, with a matching gray wool flannel blazer with hanbok double-breasted collar and coordinating stand-collar shirt. The look was accessorized with gray wool heeled boots, and a Piaget diamond watch. 'Working with has been a very smooth process,' said Boss creative director Marco Falcioni of the brand's first collaboration with the musician, who was named an ambassador late last month. More from WWD 'The conversation was very much about what does tailoring mean for Falcioni said, adding that he aimed to create a tailored look that would resonate with both the brand's DNA and The conversation quickly turned to the hanbok, and the team decided to design an outfit informed by the construction and proportions of the traditional Korean garment. ' We were able to create something which was new to us [Boss], new for and resonated well for both.' Going into Monday's Met Gala, was looking forward to the moment he stepped out on the red carpet to debut the outfit. 'I hope to be seen as an embodiment of Boss' captivating style and aesthetic,' said 'I'm also excited to see all the amazing looks and how everyone will bring their own unique take to the event.' Here, the Seventeen leader reflects on beginning his journey as a Boss ambassador, and an upcoming milestone for the K-pop group and himself. WWD: Why were you excited to attend the Met Gala this year? The Met Gala is such a significant night that brings fashion and art together, and it felt like a great chance to broaden my perspective. As a Boss ambassador, I was also eager to see the expertise and craftsmanship behind their suits firsthand. WWD: What do you appreciate about your Boss look, and how is it setting the tone for the evening? It's a custom-tailored look inspired by jeogori, the Korean hanbok jacket, so it fits me perfectly and highlights a creative design — like the contrasting shades of gray on the inside and outside of the coat that add a subtle allure when revealed with each step. It really sets the tone for this year's Met, which celebrates 'tailoring' as a form of self-expression and individuality. WWD: What has been rewarding about working with Boss as their newest global brand ambassador? It's truly an honor to start my journey with Boss at my first Met Gala, and I'm filled with excitement and anticipation to share even more exciting collaborations in the future. WWD: How would you describe your style offstage? I tend to prefer comfortable clothes. Since I often wear stage outfits and need to prepare for dance practices, I naturally gravitate toward more comfortable options. WWD: You guys [Seventeen] are getting ready to release your fifth album 'Happy Burstday' later this month. What can fans look forward to with this new release and the summer ahead? We're all pumped up and ready to give it our all for this album and performance. It feels like a grand way to close out my 20s. The album will be released on our 10th anniversary, May 26, so I hope you'll give it lots of love, and look forward to sharing the next 10 years with us.
