Polokwane race track hosts national short circuit motorbike series
POLOKWANE – The South Africa Short Circuit Series (SASCS) championship roared into action at the Polokwane Race Track on Saturday, drawing competitors from across the country for a day of intense motorcycle racing.
According to Aston Nesbitt, the owner of the SASCS, the series serves as a development platform for motorcycle road racing in South Africa.
'This series is a breeding ground for all road racing in the country. We have classes for young children right through to adults, with various types of bikes suited to different skill levels,' he said.
The SASCS is designed to guide riders along a path from basic riding skills to competitive international racing.
'Everybody's dream here is to one day race overseas. In fact, we have international riders who still compete in the series to sharpen their skills because the racing is so close and intense.'
He added that the nature of short circuit racing, featuring powerful bikes on compact tracks, creates a fast-paced and competitive environment, ideal for developing talent and testing limits.
