Auto driver killed by second wife after tiff
1 2 Hyderabad: A 40-year-old auto driver, Kishan Naik, was allegedly killed by his second wife Sirisha at their rented accommodation in Vanasthalipuram in the early hours of Tuesday. For Sirisha too, it was the second marriage. The two were in love, had an intercaste marriage around a decade ago, and have two children, police said. Kishan's first wife died, leaving him with three children, while Sirisha's first husband divorced her. She met Kishan while travelling in his auto rickshaw, got acquainted with him, and later got married. As Naik belongs to the ST community, a case under sections related to murder and provisions under the SC & ST (Prevention of atrocities) Act were also slapped against Sirisha, assistant commissioner of police (ACP), Vanasthalipuram, Kasi Reddy said. Police were also probing the role of Sirisha's parents, who stay nearby, and also her alleged partner in Kishan's murder. According to police, the couple have been staying separately for a year. Recently, after a compromise, they moved to a rented home at Vanasthalipuram. While Kishan visited her once a week from his native place in Yadadri Bhongir district, she stayed with their two children and was working as a security guard at a jewellery store. On Monday evening, Kishan went to her workplace and picked up a quarrel. Later at night also, he quarrelled with her and even assaulted her. In retaliation, she also hit him and pushed him to the wall. As he collapsed, she shifted him to hospital with her parents' help where he was declared dead, a police officer said.

Telangana court acquits Army officer, kin in dowry harassment, abetment to suicide case
HYDERABAD: A court in Secunderabad recently acquitted an Indian Army officer , along with his mother and sister, in a dowry harassment and abetment to suicide case filed following the death of his wife, a radio jockey, in 2017. The case, registered at Bolarum police station, also included charges under the SC & ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, as the deceased belonged to a Scheduled Caste police, after a detailed investigation, filed a chargesheet in the court with strong evidence indicating that she died by suicide due to harassment for additional dowry, the same could not be proved during the trial. As a result, the court acquitted the accused, a major in the Indian Army, as well as his mother and sister who were named as accused in the the woman's death, her mother and sisters flew to the city from Ghaziabad and lodged a complaint alleging that the woman was harassed for additional dowry by her husband and in-laws, due to which she died by suicide. Subsequently, the army officer, his mother and sister were arrested and later granted in the chargesheet, stated that after the marriage, the accused forced his wife to return to her parents' home and later, along with his mother and sister, began harassing her for dowry."She faced continuous mental and physical harassment, including demands for money and property, and was even forced to terminate a pregnancy. HC hears Revanth's plea to quash 2016 criminal case
Hyderabad: The Telangana high court on Friday heard a criminal petition filed by chief minister A Revanth Reddy , seeking the quashing of a criminal case registered against him in 2016 at Gachibowli police station. Justice Moushumi Bhattacharya, who presided over the matter, directed all respondents to come fully prepared for the next hearing and posted the case for further proceedings on May 2. He, along with his brother A Kondal Reddy and another individual, was accused of trespassing onto private land. During the hearing, Justice Bhattacharya expressed surprise and disapproval over the lack of preparedness from the respondents' counsels, including those representing Gachibowli police and the original complainant. "The chief minister is the petitioner, and look at the level of preparation—'unthinkable'," the judge remarked, underscoring the gravity of the case and the expectation for thorough legal representation. Details of the case The FIR includes charges of criminal trespass, intimidation, causing property damage, and violations under the SC & ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Police completed their investigation and filed a chargesheet in 2019. The case is currently pending trial before the special court for SC & ST cases in LB Nagar, Rangareddy district. Appearing for the chief minister, his legal counsel argued that the allegations lack the essential ingredients required to establish a criminal offence against him. On this basis, the counsel urged the court to quash the proceedings. The high court will continue hearing the matter on May 2.

Youtuber tries to extort Jukkal MLA, held
Hyderabad: Rajendranagar police on Thursday arrested a YouTube channel operator for trying to blackmail and extort Rs 5 crore from Jukkal MLA Thota Laxmi Kantha Rao . In a complaint to the police, MLA alleged that on April 15, Shyam called him to arrange a meeting. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now "At 7.30 pm on April 15, Meenam Shyam along with some others came to my residence-cum-office at MLA Quarters, Hyderguda. During the meeting, Shyam claimed to have a sensitive video of me and demanded Rs 5 crore to prevent it from being released on social media," the MLA said in his complaint. The complainant refused to heed the blackmailing tactics and asked Shyam to leave his office along with his staff. "On April 21, Shyam sent some doctored and defamatory screenshots to my associate Naresh Naidu, reiterating his demand. I believe this is a deliberate conspiracy by Shyam and others to blackmail and defame me," the complainant said. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case under Sections 308(3), 351(3), 352, 61(2), r/w 3(5) of the BNS and the SC & ST (POA) Act on April 22. "Shyam was sent to judicial custody. The case is under investigation," said Rajendranagar inspector K Kastro.
