Hyderabad: A 40-year-old auto driver, Kishan Naik, was allegedly killed by his second wife Sirisha at their rented accommodation in Vanasthalipuram in the early hours of Tuesday.
For Sirisha too, it was the second marriage. The two were in love, had an intercaste marriage around a decade ago, and have two children, police said.
Kishan's first wife died, leaving him with three children, while Sirisha's first husband divorced her. She met Kishan while travelling in his auto rickshaw, got acquainted with him, and later got married. As Naik belongs to the ST community, a case under sections related to murder and provisions under the SC & ST (Prevention of atrocities) Act were also slapped against Sirisha, assistant commissioner of police (ACP), Vanasthalipuram, Kasi Reddy said.
Police were also probing the role of Sirisha's parents, who stay nearby, and also her alleged partner in Kishan's murder.
According to police, the couple have been staying separately for a year. Recently, after a compromise, they moved to a rented home at Vanasthalipuram. While Kishan visited her once a week from his native place in Yadadri Bhongir district, she stayed with their two children and was working as a security guard at a jewellery store.
On Monday evening, Kishan went to her workplace and picked up a quarrel. Later at night also, he quarrelled with her and even assaulted her. In retaliation, she also hit him and pushed him to the wall. As he collapsed, she shifted him to hospital with her parents' help where he was declared dead, a police officer said.

2020 riots larger conspiracy case
New Delhi: A Delhi court on Friday decided to start hearing arguments on charge from July 2 in the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act case related to February 2020 riots. Additional Sessions Judge Lalit Kumar on June 2 noted that the prosecution and counsel for five accused persons had completed their arguments on charge. The court then sought the 'schedule regarding the time frame' and the manner of addressing the arguments, 'particularly time or hours' from the special public prosecutors and accused's advocates. On Friday, special public prosecutor Amit Prasad said the prosecution would take around four to five hours daily for at least five days to conclude its arguments. Prasad said he would supply a compilation for the court's convenience. The court agreed to the submissions of the prosecution and the counsel for the accused persons that the arguments on charge should continue post summer vacations. It was pointed out to the court that the proceedings in the present matter would take considerable time as the chargesheet runs into over 17,000 pages. Advocates for some other accused also made their submissions. 'This court considers it fit that a considerable time has already been lapsed and therefore, arguments on the point of charge have to be expedited,' the judge said on June 2.

POCSO court in Gujarat's Mehsana awards life imprisonment to father for raping minor daughter
A Special Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) court in Mehsana district on Friday sentenced a 51-year-old man to rigorous imprisonment for life for repeatedly raping and impregnating his 17-year-old daughter by threatening to kill her and the rest of the family. Awarding the punishment to the accused in the case, the court held that the POCSO Act legislature could 'also not have a reason to think that any father can be an accused' under the Act. Stating that the crime is 'unique and serious', the court said, '…this is a very unfortunate moment that this court had to try this case where an accused under POCSO Act is the father of the victim girl… This court has no words to describe its anguish against the heinous act of this accused… During the whole period of trial the body language of the accused was also observed by this court… no sign of sorrow or (repentance) was there… This court is speechless and really shocked to come across such a case.' The prosecution's case was that in April 2024, the brother of the victim approached the Mehsana district police to lodge an FIR as the victim, who had been taken to a hospital after she complained of stomach pain, was found to be pregnant. The complainant informed the police that the victim had confided in him that her father had raped her and threatened to kill her and the rest of the family members if she complained about the incident. Accordingly, the accused was booked under Indian Penal Code sections for rape, criminal intimidation and under relevant sections of the POCSO Act. 'During deposition of the victim … she repeatedly said that she couldn't believe that her own father had raped her… Accused had threatened the victim. This court is really worried for the future of this victim girl.' The court also awarded a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the victim under the Gujarat Victim Compensation Fund.
