Show cause notice issued to 7 departments

Kanpur: District magistrate Kanpur Nagar, Jitendra Pratap Singh, on Wednesday took the negative feedback in Integrated Grievance Redressal System (IGRS) complaints and said that he would not tolerate carelessness in disposal of public complaints. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now He warned of disciplinary action against those officials who would fail to take time-bound action and stressed on making the image of administration better. In the meeting, he directed to issue show cause notices to seven departments for careless attitude towards public complaints. The seven departments are Jalkal department, municipal corporation, SDM (Sadar) Kanpur Nagar, PWD, tehsildar Sadar Kanpur Nagar, district inspector of schools and assistant labour commissioner Kanpur Nagar. In a review meeting held at the collectorate auditorium, Singh said that quality disposal of IGRS (Integrated Grievance Redressal System) references was the top priority of the government. The DM stated that in the evaluation report submitted by the government on June 3, the percentage of negative feedback received in relation to the references resolved by various departments was found to be of great concern. Notably, in some departments this negative feedback has been recorded as high as 83 per cent, which reflects serious laxity in departmental functioning and blatant disregard for citizens' expectations. Terming this situation as extremely regrettable Singh said that it was indicative of clear indifference in discharging duty. He said this shows that the complaints have not been resolved seriously and in a qualitative manner by the officers/employees concerned or their supervisory responsibilities have not been discharged efficiently. As a result of this serious lapse, the ranking of the district has been adversely affected, which has also caused a serious blow to the administrative image of the district. Taking cognisance in the matter, the district magistrate had directed all the officers concerned to determine the responsibility of their subordinate officers/employees and ensure necessary and strict action as per

An official of disaster management division stated that this time relief kit will include 26 items. Additionally, two meals and a snack will be provided. Last year, relief kit contained 18 items. Bulldozers vs sticks: Residents protest eviction for ‘MLA colony'

1 2 3 Raipur: About 20 kilometers from the Chhattisgarh capital, tension is escalating in Nakti village, where 85 homes belonging to nearly 250-300 villagers may soon be razed after the administration served eviction notices on encroached lands. The villagers said that the govt has plans to build an MLA housing colony on this land but authorities haven't confirmed it yet. The villagers, especially women, have been sitting in protest with sticks in hand, for the past few days, against the move stating that they are ready to sacrifice their lives but will not give up their ancestral land. "The 30 acres land is recorded as 'community grazing ground' and over 30-35 houses with 250-300 families have been living here for 40 years. We got an eviction notice and we went to SDM. Outsiders are occupying land all across, and the govt is calling us illegal?" said a villager, wishing anonymity. He said that there were more than 15 houses built under PMAY while others also being built were put on hold, stating that it was a govt land and we were encroaching it illegally. Soon after, official notices were issued and residents were ordered to vacate the land, prompting widespread anger and protest. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Espagne : séjours tout compris à prix doux Vacances en Espagne | Liens de recherche En savoir plus Undo Speaking to TOI, Raipur collector Gaurav Singh said, "Notices are served to all those who encroach govt lands. They can appeal a civil or SDM court in case of objection. But I ensure, every action is taken as per the rules and regulations." The women were angered with the notice and an elderly resident Kamla Yadav said, "Even if a bulldozer rolls over my chest, I will not surrender my land." Another woman asked, "How can our homes be illegal when electricity poles, transformers, and water tanks were built here with govt help?" Officials indicated that the bulldozers can reach the village any time as per the eviction notice but it's confirmed that the land belongs to govt. Issued under Section 248 of the Chhattisgarh Land Revenue Code (1959), the notice claims that 85 families have illegally occupied land in survey No. 460 totalling 15.47 hectares, land measuring 38 acres in khasra no. 460, which must be vacated voluntarily or face forced eviction. With no clear word from the administration on whether PMAY houses will be spared, villagers live in daily fear of the bulldozers. But they say the standoff between people and those in power continues — sticks versus state.

Samana parents protest and block bridge demanding further action fatal accident case; Samana witnesses shutdown again

Patiala: The grieving families of six schoolchildren killed in a horrific road crash earlier this month reignited protests on Friday, blocking a key road and demanding the arrest of all those alleged to be responsible for the tragedy. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Joined by political leaders, farmer unions, and social organisations, the families staged a sit-in outside the tehsil complex in Samana before moving to the Bhakhra Bridge on the Samana-Patiala Road, bringing the town to a standstill for the second time since the May 7 accident. The crash involved a Toyota Innova ferrying schoolchildren that collided head-on with a tanker-loaded tipper truck. Five children aged between six and 12, along with the 45-year-old driver, died on the spot. A sixth child died the next day, while six others remain in hospital. Police have arrested two main accused — tipper driver Bhupinder Singh and truck owner Davinder Singh — and six others for allegedly sheltering the suspects. However, four additional accused — Aniket Singh, Randhir Singh (alleged operator of the truck), Nirmal Singh (Randhir's father), and Gurjeet Singh, a relative — remain on the run. On May 24, families submitted a memorandum to subdivisional magistrate (SDM) Richa Goel, warning of a complete city shutdown if no action was taken by May 28. Goel forwarded the memorandum to senior superintendent of police (SSP) Varun Sharma, who met with the families and pledged arrests by May 30. That deadline has now passed without further arrests. Outraged by the delay, the families resumed their protest with heightened momentum. Local leaders across party lines criticised the administration for its inaction and pledged continued support for the victims' families. The tragedy has sparked wider concerns over unsafe school transportation, poor road regulation, and the unmonitored movement of heavy mining vehicles on public roads. On May 8, the town observed a total shutdown as hundreds gathered to mourn the children at the cremation ground. With emotions still raw and public outrage mounting, the families vowed to continue their protest until all accused are brought to justice and meaningful reforms are enacted to prevent similar tragedies.
