He warned of disciplinary action against those officials who would fail to take time-bound action and stressed on making the image of administration better.
In the meeting, he directed to issue show cause notices to seven departments for careless attitude towards public complaints. The seven departments are Jalkal department, municipal corporation, SDM (Sadar) Kanpur Nagar, PWD, tehsildar Sadar Kanpur Nagar, district inspector of schools and assistant labour commissioner Kanpur Nagar.
In a review meeting held at the collectorate auditorium, Singh said that quality disposal of IGRS (Integrated Grievance Redressal System) references was the top priority of the government.
The DM stated that in the evaluation report submitted by the government on June 3, the percentage of negative feedback received in relation to the references resolved by various departments was found to be of great concern. Notably, in some departments this negative feedback has been recorded as high as 83 per cent, which reflects serious laxity in departmental functioning and blatant disregard for citizens' expectations.
Terming this situation as extremely regrettable Singh said that it was indicative of clear indifference in discharging duty. He said this shows that the complaints have not been resolved seriously and in a qualitative manner by the officers/employees concerned or their supervisory responsibilities have not been discharged efficiently. As a result of this serious lapse, the ranking of the district has been adversely affected, which has also caused a serious blow to the administrative image of the district.
Taking cognisance in the matter, the district magistrate had directed all the officers concerned to determine the responsibility of their subordinate officers/employees and ensure necessary and strict action as per rules.tnn

Man held for raping minor daughter in Punjab's Hoshiarpur
An 11-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her father in a village in Punjab's Hoshiarpur district, police said on Friday. According to Mukerian SHO Joginder Singh, the matter came to light after the girl's mother lodged a complaint. The woman told police that she got married to a 40-year-old man in 2011, and the couple had two children -- a son and a daughter. She alleged that her husband used to frequently quarrel with her and their children, and she was currently residing at her maternal home. On March 22, her husband took the daughter to his village. When the mother spoke to her over the phone later, the girl revealed that her father regularly beat her and sexually assaulted her whenever the grandparents were not present at home, she alleged. Singh said the accused has been arrested and a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and under the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been registered. Investigations are underway, the police official said.

Who Is Manmeet Singh? Indian-Origin Blogger Fined In Singapore Over False TikTok Claim
Last Updated: The court found that Singh made these claims without verifying the information, which he had received from an unknown source via WhatsApp An Indian-origin blogger, Manmeet Singh, was fined SGD 6,000 (approximately Rs 4 lakh) by a Singapore court on Friday for sharing a false claim that promoted racial disharmony. Singh, 57, pleaded guilty to knowingly posting content on TikTok that accused the country's minister of making offensive remarks about a minority community. The video, uploaded in August 2024, falsely claimed that Singapore's Minister for Digital Development and Information, Josephine Teo, had insulted the Malay community—who make up about 15 per cent of Singapore's population—during an interview with Chinese media. The court found that Singh made these claims without verifying the information, which he had received from an unknown source via WhatsApp. The TikTok video was viewed widely and prompted questions to the minister from her colleagues and a journalist. A police report was filed shortly after. Who Is Manmeet Singh And What Did He Claim? Indian-origin Manmeet Singh is known in Singapore for posting on socio-political topics through platforms like TikTok. He previously gained attention as the bodyguard of former presidential candidate Tan Kin Lian, and his TikTok account had over 9,000 followers at the time of the offence. On 12 August 2024, Singh received a link to a WordPress blog post from an unknown number. The blog falsely alleged that Josephine Teo had said 'Malays are i*****" during a media interview. Offended by the claim, Singh recorded a TikTok video with a caption repeating the allegation, telling his followers to 'go look it up". However, just hours after uploading the video, Singh began to doubt the credibility of the claim and took the video down. He also posted a follow-up video apologising to Teo and acknowledged that the allegation was likely false. However, despite this, a police complaint had already been filed by Teo's press secretary. Earlier in February, Singh was arrested and granted bail the following day. His defence lawyers had told the court that he was 'racked with guilt" and had no intent to spread hatred or misinformation. His counsel had stressed that Singh does not create content for profit or popularity, but as a form of expression on issues he feels strongly about. He has since taken steps to avoid political controversy and now checks the reliability of his sources more carefully. Under Singaporean law, promoting racial disharmony is a serious offence. Singh could have faced up to three years in prison, a fine, or both. (With inputs from agencies) Location : Singapore
