John Krasinski thinks Fountain of Youth is better than Indiana Jones
John Krasinski believes 'Fountain of Youth' trumps 'Indiana Jones'. The 45-year-old actor plays Luke Purdue, the estranged brother of Charlotte Purdue (Natalie Portman) in 2025 American heist adventure film directed by Guy Ritchie, and he teams up with his sibling for a worldwide hunt to find the mythological fountain of youth in the flick styled like the 'Indiana Jones' franchise. Krasinski said the family aspect is what "drew me in" and put the flick "ahead" of the iconic films created by George Lucas. He told SFX magazine: "I think for me, it was really this relationship [that gave it] a different twist, instead of a whole romance thing at the centre of the move. "What I really liked was that family was this thing that we often forget about, and it might be the treasure that we're all really seeking in our lives. "So that was really the thing that drew me in, which Indy didn't have. So there! We're ahead of 'Indiana Jones' already! Please don't tell Harrison Ford that!" As well as being enticed by family being at the heart of the film, Krasinski said working with Ritchie was another factor in his decision to take on the role of Luke. The 'IF' actor explained: "I've been a huge Guy Ritchie fan forever. "I don't know if I've been on set with a director where it's his world in its entirety - and I mean that in the best way. "Though it may sound chaotic, and it does take a little time to understand the rules of how to go about starting every day with that off-the-cuff, kind of, writing, there is an energy to it that I've never experienced before. "This is one of those movies where you'll look back and go, 'I'm so glad I did this.'" The 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' star - who has Hazel, 10, and Violet, seven, with his actress wife Emily Blunt - laughed at the fact it's the first film that is appropriate for his young children to watch. He said: "My kids are 10 and about to be eight, and Guy just showed them the opening of the movie, and they were like, 'When's this coming out?' "I think they thought I was an accountant before. They can't watch 'A Quiet Place' or 'Jack Ryan'. So they're like, 'Where do you go every day?' "And now they know!"

Eiza Gonzalez in disbelief about being cast in Fountain of Youth
Eiza Gonzalez was shocked when Guy Ritchie cast her in 'Fountain of Youth'. The 35-year-old actress thought the esteemed 56-year-old film director was "joking" after he got her involved in three back-to-back projects, including 2024's action war movie 'The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare' and 2025's action flick 'In the Grey'. Eiza told SFX magazine: "I was like, 'There's no way that Guy would want me [again].' And in December, right after the holidays - because the holidays can be, kind of, grim sometimes - I was just by myself in Los Angeles, and I got a call, 'You've got the offer.' "I was like, 'You're joking?'" The star plays Esme in the 'Fountain of Youth' - which sees Luke Purdue (John Krasinski), the estranged brother of Charlotte Purdue (Natalie Portman), team up with his sibling for a worldwide hunt to find the mythological titular fountain in the film. And the first thing Eiza thought of to get in character was to chop her hair off. The 'Ash' star explained: "The first thing I said is, 'I think we need to cut my hair off.' Completely change my look. "Look very different to what we did before. I want to make her completely her own." Esme is a "protector" and described the character to the New York Times as 'machiavellian fun, a huge enigma and kind of a poker face, but a sassy and witty girl". And Eiza loved playing her. She continued: "She's just a great character to be able to play. She's just so multifaceted and fun in a very Guy Ritchie way. "She's, kind of, following this crew of talented people and trying to find out what they're trying to do, because she has ulterior motives." The 'Baby Driver' actress loves taking risks and pushing herself to perform at her very best, and Eiza thinks this encouraged Guy to cast her in 'Fountain of Youth'. She told the New York Times: "I think he really enjoys someone that is willing to take risks and play and push themselves, and he saw a lot of desire in me." John Krasinski gushed his praise for Guy's work on 'Fountain of Youth', and it has made John feel proud that he can add the flick to his list of acting credits. The 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' star said: "This is one of those movies where you'll look back and go, 'I'm so glad I did this.'" And the dad-of-two - Hazel, 10, and Violet, seven, who he has with his wife Emily Blunt - is thrilled that he can finally show his bundles of joy a movie he is in and that he can shut down Hazel and Violet's beliefs that he was an "accountant". John said: "My kids are 10 and about to be eight, and Guy just showed them the opening of the movie, and they were like, 'When's this coming out?' "I think they thought I was an accountant before. They can't watch 'A Quiet Place' or 'Jack Ryan'. So they're like, 'Where do you go every day?' "And now they know!"

Dominique Thorne Talks About Her Marvel Character IRONHEART and How She Will Do Without Her Mentor Tony Stark — GeekTyrant
Dominique Thorne first appeared in the MCU in the 2022 sequel Black Panther: Wakanda Forever , where we were introduced to her character Riri Williams, a genius teen inventor who is following in the footsteps of her hero, Tony Stark, aka Ironman. We will see her return next month as the superhero Ironheart in the upcoming Disney+ series, but without the help of Stark as her mentor, how will she navigate the superhero world? Enter The Hood. Anthony Ramos ( Hamilton ) is set to play The Hood in the show Ironheart , and Thorne talked about his character, describing him as "this mystical, magical sort of entity" in the upcoming issue of SFX magazine, which features M3GAN 2.0 on the cover and hits newsstands on Wednesday, May 21. Thorne explained, "We know that The Hood couldn't be farther apart from Riri in terms of her being a very logical 'show me the facts and run me the numbers' person. 'Coming off the heels of this super vulnerable experience, with her having been imprisoned, that vulnerability presents a very tender opportunity for Riri to make a real and impactful decision about how her genius will impact the world around her. How will it affect the people that she loves? How can it affect her own goals and ambitions?" She went on, "There's a clear understanding that she's not Tony Stark. She does not have a billion dollars at her disposal. She does not have the resources... she doesn't have the mentorship, or the guidance," Thorne says. "And so what does it look like for someone like The Hood to enter her sphere now, where she is vulnerable and reflecting? It does set the stage for a very interesting journey ahead to see the people who pop up as she's working to get those answers and what the scale of their influence can be, if any?" It will be interesting to see what happens with Riri Williams and this mysterious new character, The Hood. Ironheart will hit Disney+ on June 24th. via: GamesRadar+

Tom Cruise was ‘so stoked' watching The Running Man trailer, Glen Powell says
Glen Powell has said Tom Cruise was "so stoked" after watching 'The Running Man' trailer. The 36-year-old actor will lead the upcoming thriller as protagonist Ben Richards, and has now teased that his 'Top Gun: Maverick' co-star couldn't "hide his excitement" after he saw the first teaser for 'The Running Man'. Speaking with SFX magazine, Powell said: "Watching that teaser with Tom Cruise is a memory I will never forget. "He was so stoked after watching it. What's been amazing about my relationship with Tom is the fact he's a guy that doesn't hide his excitement. "He loves the theatrical experience and working hard and putting your body on the line to entertain audiences." 'The Running Man' - which will also star Josh Brolin, Colman Domingo, Michael Cera and Katy O'Brian - is an adaptation of author Stephen King's 1982 novel of the same name, and follows the desperate Ben Richards (Powell) who signs up to participate in the TV game show 'The Running Man', where enemies of the state have to evade death at the hands of the game's stalkers to try and win their freedom. The movie, which is slated for release in November, will be the second interpretation of King's work on the silver screen, with the first 'Running Man' film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger as Ben Richards in 1987. Powell previously revealed that 'The Terminator' icon had given him his blessing for the new 'Running Man'. The 'Twisters' star explained to People: "Arnold gave us his blessing. Patrick Schwarzenegger is a great friend of mine and I asked Patrick if I could talk to Arnold and I hadn't seen Arnold since we shot 'Expendables' in Bulgaria. "Arnold gave us his full blessing and we get to give Arnold a very specific fun gift from the movie in a couple of weeks here. So I'm very excited to see him." Meanwhile, 'The Running Man' director Edgar Wright revealed he cast Powell in the leading role as he wanted to use an actor "who hadn't really done something like this before". The filmmaker told Empire magazine: "I felt it was important to see somebody who hadn't really done something like this before. "It's similar to Bruce Willis, when he was still the guy from 'Moonlighting', before he did 'Die Hard', where that adds to the suspense. Can they make it?' While Wright is a fan of the original 'Running Man' movie, the 'Baby Driver' director promised his version would be a more faithful adaptation of King's novel. He said: "One of the things about the book that I loved was the fact that Ben Richards is out in the world on his own, so it's like the deadliest game of hide and seek. "It does feel like making a road movie in a lot of ways: a very intense, dangerous road movie. Ben is moving through different environments and meeting different people as he tries to survive 30 days out in the wild."

Internet Stunned at What Girl, 5, Picks As Bedtime Plushie: 'Obsessed'
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A 5-year-old girl with an adorable collection of plushies has chosen a rather terrifying bedtime companion—a life-sized Chucky doll. Katelyn McCormick Nevin (@katelynnevin), 23, from Monaghan, Ireland, shared footage of her daughter, Georgia McCormick, cuddled up with the infamous horror character, drawing over 59,400 likes and 650,200 views on TikTok. The mom, a professional makeup artist who specializes in SFX makeup, explained that she has a long-standing obsession with Halloween, one she's clearly passed on to Georgia. In October 2019, she took part in a challenge to create a different Halloween makeup look every day. "On day 12, I had created the look of the nun Valak from The Conjuring.. Day 12 being the day Georgia was born, so as you can see Georgia being a Halloween baby herself and growing up with me being her mum one day and possibly being Freddy Krueger or Michael Myers the next, that's where her obsession began," she told Newsweek. Georgia's attachment to Chucky, however, has stood out above the rest. "It has mainly been Chucky she has really clung to, every Halloween she HAS to be Chucky, Chucky birthday cakes, and even when she was 2 for a good six months she wouldn't let me bath her unless the water was 'Chucky water,' (which was a dash of orange facepaint in the bath)," she added. In the video, Nevin pans across Georgia's bed, which is filled with soft toys including Dumbo, Stitch, a unicorn, and several cuddly bears. Nestled among them is Georgia, fast asleep with her arms tightly wrapped around her Chucky doll. Nevin clarified that her daughter has never seen the films. Chucky, originally introduced in the 1988 film Child's Play, is a possessed Good Guy doll inhabited by the spirit of serial killer Charles Lee Ray. Though he looks like an ordinary children's toy, Chucky is known for his foul mouth, wild red hair, and violent tendencies—making him one of horror's most renowned villains. "Many don't agree with her having the doll which I understand to a certain extent, but all it is is a little girl with a little more out there obsession and no fear which I think is great," said Nevin. Her daughter's horror obsession struck a chord with fellow TikTokers, who flooded the comments with similar stories. "My daughter used to sleep with Abomination... way before social media arrived lol," said Shannen. "My son's obsessed with horrors at 7 he's starting with FNAF," said another user, referring to Five Nights at Freddy's, a survival horror video game featuring haunted animatronics. "My daughter sleeps with an Annabelle doll," shared another viewer, referencing the haunted doll from The Conjuring universe. "He makes her feel safe and she knows no monster is a match. Love it," said Misaki. "I used to be obsessed with Chucky whenever I went for a sleepover at my grandmas house I would always sleep with Chucky even when I was insanely young," said Hollie.
