Jingle booklet in Awadhi & Braj to promote health awareness in UP

A jingle booklet in Awadhi and Braj languages will spread messages about health and wellness across Uttar Pradesh. The State Institute of Education (SIE)-Prayagraj has been assigned the responsibility by the National Population Education Project to prepare this booklet, said officials. (Pic for representation only) To be written in a simple and rhythmic language, the booklet aims to raise awareness among students and the wider community about important issues and concerns related to health and wellness programmes, they added. Anil Kumar, the principal of the SIE in Allenganj area of Prayagraj, said that the decision to use poems and rhythmic lines in local languages was made to help children better understand and internalise health-related information. Alongside the booklet, a calendar focusing on various health and wellness topics will also be developed as part of the initiative. The institute has also been tasked with creating awareness posters and pamphlets on themes such as women's empowerment, drug abuse prevention, and emotional well being, he shared. Additionally, a folder dedicated to educating girls about personal hygiene and health awareness will also be prepared, he said. The National Population Education Project (NPEP) is a centrally sponsored scheme in India, implemented by the Ministry of Education, with the goal of integrating population education into the formal school system and teacher education. It aims to promote awareness about population-related issues, sustainable development, gender equity, and adolescent reproductive health. The project is implemented through State Councils of Educational Research and Training (SCERTs) and Regional Institutes of Education (RIEs). Assessing anxiety levels among adolescents The State Institute of Education (SIE)-Prayagraj will also conduct a study this academic year (2025-26) to assess anxiety levels among adolescent students in selected districts of Uttar Pradesh. Training programmes will be organised for faculty members of District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs) and school teachers from 36 selected districts, covering 11 key topics under the health and wellness programme, said principal of the SIE-Prayagraj, Anil Kumar. On various national and international observance days, schools across the state will host creative competitions related to health and wellness issues, including essay writing, poster making, painting, slogans, stories, humor, poetry, and debates, he added.

Curbing phone addiction: Desi, physical games to challenge e-game fixation at UP govt primary schools

The Uttar Pradesh basic education department has introduced a calendar of traditional Indian games for students of Classes 1 to 8 across government primary and upper primary schools. The move is aimed at reconnecting children with their cultural roots and curbing the growing mobile phone addiction. The initiative, aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, aims to encourage physical activity and reduce children's screen time by promoting indigenous games like Posham Pa and Langdi Taang. The calendar, prepared by experts from the State Institute of Education (SIE), Prayagraj—a unit of the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT)—has been distributed digitally to around 1.5 lakh schools across the state, for the benefit of over 1.5 crore students. 'The illustrated PDF calendar has been shared with school principals, who have been instructed to incorporate these games into teacher-parent meetings and other school events to actively engage children,' said Anil Kumar, principal in-charge, SIE-Prayagraj. This initiative is a step toward reviving traditional games and improving both mental and physical health among students, he added. Officials hope the games will not only promote fitness and teamwork but also instill cultural pride among young learners.

Sony knows "there's a huge interest" in PlayStation's "next-generation console strategy" after the PS5, and "the future of the platform is top of mind" for the company

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Is Sony already thinking about the PS6? Sony Interactive Entertainment boss Hideaki Nishino isn't giving away any details, but the company is well aware that "there's a huge interest in our next-generation console strategy." During a recent Fireside Chat, a question is raised by Justin Hill, senior vice president of finance and investor relations at Sony Corporation of America, that "with cloud gaming more of a viable option than ever before, do we need a next-generation console? Is SIE developing one?" SIE president and CEO Nishino calls this a "great question," saying the company has been "really proud of the quality we have been delivering" when it comes to cloud gaming over the last 11 years. "From a technical standpoint," he says that the technology is "progressing well," but points out that "end-to-end network stability is not in our control," and calls "higher cost per playtime compared to the traditional console model" a "challenge" compared to the "traditional console model." He then goes on to describe cloud gaming as "an additional option for players to access content," before saying: "Our belief is that the majority of players continue to want to play [and] experience gaming through a local execution without dependency on network conditions. And PS5 and PS5 Pro have validated this thesis, I believe." Noting that Sony has "a large ecosystem of highly engaged players" across PS5 and the previous-gen console, PS4, Nishino says that "there's a huge interest in our next-generation console strategy. "While we cannot share further details at this stage, the future of the platform is top of mind. We are committed to exploring a new and enhanced way for players to engage with our content and services." So, he's not giving anything away right now, but just in case there was any doubt, it certainly sounds like there's no plan to ditch a traditional console in favor of a cloud gaming device, at least at this stage. The PS5 turns five years old this November, having been released seven years after the PS4. With that in mind, it seems pretty likely we still have a bit of a wait ahead of us to see what Sony is working on next, but we'll just have to watch this space. While you're here, be sure to check out our roundup of the best PS5 games, as well as upcoming PS5 games to look out for in the future.
