Here's why snooty NYC co-op boards are really rejecting influencers like Livvy Dunne: ‘Cause of concern'

Eight million followers on TikTok won't turn the keys to New York City's most coveted co-ops. Just ask Livvy Dunne, the 22-year-old influencer and former gymnast who practically got the door slammed in her face when she tried to buy a three-bedroom Upper West Side apartment that once belonged to Babe Ruth. 'I was going to buy it, I was going to pay with cash. I wanted this apartment bad. The realtor was so confident,' Dunne told her followers on TikTok Tuesday. The SI Swimsuit cover girl, who is dating Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes, said she was 'literally supposed to get the keys' after putting in an all-cash offer on the $1.6 million pad and had already hired a decorator. 11 Influencer Livvy Dunne faced a harsh reality when she was denied the keys to an Upper West Side co-op. Getty Images for Sports Illustrated 11 Dunne revealed the disappointing news on TikTok that she would indeed, not be moving into the historic, three bedroom co-op: 'The people in the building voted to not have me live there … they denied me,' she said on TikTok. Getty Images for Sports Illustrated 11 Real-estate brokers told The Post that NYC co-ops can be leery of influencers, like Dunne, with thousands of followers because of paparazzi, lurking fans and other unwanted buzz. TikTok / @livv Instead, Dunne revealed 'The people in the building voted to not have me live there … they denied me.' Real-estate brokers told The Post that NYC co-ops are leery of influencers with thousands of followers — even those with millions of dollars to burn — because of paparazzi, lurking fans and other unwanted buzz. 'Influencers today carry a level of visibility once reserved for traditional celebrities, and with that can come added attention, disruption or even safety concerns. Boards … are often wary of anything that might attract crowds and cameras or compromise the peace,' said real-estate specialist Travis Wilburn, founder of The100 Collection. 'It's not necessarily personal — it's about protecting the collective environment.' 11 'There's this opening of new wealth that, as an influencer, is difficult to explain to a traditional co-op board,' Jade Skener, a commercial real estate agent and star of Netflix's 'Owning Manhattan,' told The Post. Michael Nagle And then there's the issue of staid co-op boards not necessarily understanding the influencer revenue stream. 'There's this opening of new wealth that, as an influencer, is difficult to explain to a traditional co-op board,' Jade Skener, a commercial real estate agent and star of Netflix's 'Owning Manhattan,' told The Post. 'It's like 'OK, you have all this money — but how do I know you know how to manage it when you haven't worked a traditional job?'' said Skener, 29, who has more than 100,000 followers herself. 'They need proof that you understand how to do this.' Skener said she's had co-op deals go south because influencers tend to have 1009 tax forms rather than W-2s that show a steady and more secure income. Younger influencers buying a first apartment with new money and little credit history also have a Sisyphean hill to climb. 11 The inside of the coveted co-op Dunne lost out on. Angel Cherestt for NY Post And it's not just a wannabe buyer's financials or letters or recommendation that co-op board members are studying. 'The co-op is reviewing the applicants financials and the risk of the default and the propensity to be a good neighbor,' Peter Riolo, a Manhattan-based real estate broker with Riolo Properties, told The Post. In other words, someone is probably scrolling through an applicant's social media to look out for any signs of partying, excessive spending or over-the-top notoriety. 'If the messaging they're putting out in their influencer life is portraying them as being a bad neighbor, that's a cause of concern,' Riolo said. 11 In 2022, former Yankee Alex Rodriguez almost lost out on a $9.9 million co-op on Central Park West. 'He almost didn't get accepted and begged the board to accept him,' one insider revealed to The Post at the time. Getty Images 'Maybe they didn't want a public figure living there,' Dunne told her TikTok followers Tuesday. In 2022, former Yankee Alex Rodriguez almost lost out on a $9.9 million co-op on Central Park West. 'He almost didn't get accepted and begged the board to accept him,' one insider revealed to The Post at the time. According to a second source, it was a 'typical white-glove Central Park West co-op. They don't want anyone with celebrity status living here. That is not what they are going for.' 11 Rumor has it Madonna was snubbed by both the Dakota and the San Remo on the UWS (according to lore, Diane Keaton was the only member of the latter's board to vote Yes for the Material Girl). David M. Benett That attitude is why, Riolo said, he typically advises his famous buyers — whether influencers, actors, musicians or athletes — to opt for condos, as they require no board approval. 'It's why celebrity clients buy condos — for anonymity,' he explained. 'Many will choose not to go through the co-op process because of how invasive it is and [instead] buy a condo through an LLC. Even though they have to disclose who they are, there's no approval process where the board has the right to review and reject without giving a cause.' The streets of Manhattan are lined with the egos of A-listers barred from posh properties. Billionaire and ousted WeWork CEO Adam Neumann was rejected by the co-op boards of a bevy of prestigious buildings while searching for a prized $50 million-plus apartment on Fifth Avenue in 2019, Page Six reported. 11 Billionaire and ousted WeWork CEO Adam Neumann was rejected by the co-op boards of a bevy of prestigious buildings while searching for a prized $50 million-plus apartment on Fifth Avenue in 2019, Page Six reported. 'You might get denied and you won't get Babe Ruth's apartment.'

Livvy Dunne channels 'Jersey Shore' vibes in leopard print and denim as she stuns back in New Jersey

Livvy Dunne embraces her inner Jersey girl with fierce leopard print and jean skirt combo in viral photos (Instagram) Livvy Dunne has entered her post-gymnastics era with the same flair and confidence that made her a household name during her time at LSU. While the 22-year-old has retired from collegiate athletics, it's clear she's just getting started when it comes to commanding the spotlight. From Sports Illustrated runways to ballpark glam, Dunne is showing no signs of slowing down — and fans are loving every minute of it. Back home in New Jersey, Livvy Dunne drops jaws in leopard print and a classic denim mini skirt After wrapping up her NCAA journey — which included iconic moments like her Texas cowboy hat look, her final leotard routine, and the stunning 'officially retired' dress she wore during a night out with her LSU teammates — Dunne has gracefully pivoted into a world full of fashion, media, and exciting personal milestones. An injury may have sidelined her from competing in the final championship, but it certainly hasn't dimmed her star. Livvy turned heads at the SI Swimsuit red carpet in New York alongside fellow gymnast Jordan Chiles, and later went viral with her show-stopping bikini split-pose at Swim Week in Miami. 'I was triple dog dared,' she said about the unexpected runway move — though every gymnast fan knows it was muscle memory and heart that really drove that moment. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Tickets for Blackpink's Singapore shows in November will cost between S$168 and S$428 CNA Read More Undo Back home in New Jersey, Livvy Dunne drops jaws in leopard print and a classic denim mini skirt (Instagram) When she's not owning the catwalk, Dunne is often spotted cheering on her boyfriend, Pittsburgh Pirates ace Paul Skenes. Her leopard-print outfit and playful Instagram caption — 'jersey shore we're so back 🐆' — lit up timelines and hinted at her fun summer plans along the coast. 'I'm going to miss gymnastics so much because it has been a part of me for almost 20 years,' Dunne told the Associated Press. 'What's next? Everything. I want to do all of the things that I couldn't do while I was a gymnast.' And with a confident smile, she added, 'There are some really cool opportunities — stay tuned.' Canadian SI Swimsuit model Nicole Williams English 'feels the most confident' in her 40s: 'This is my favourite era'

Nicole Williams English is at the top of her game. The Newfoundland native is one of 38 women to be featured in the 2025 SI Swimsuit issue, alongside stars like Salma Hayek Pinault, influencer Alix Earle and fellow Canadian Lauren Chan. The issue, which hits newsstands on May 17, is the third time Williams English has posed for the iconic magazine. She made her Sports Illustrated debut in 2023 when she was seven months pregnant with her daughter, India Moon, whom she shares with husband retired NFL player Larry English. Yahoo Canada spoke to Williams English about achieving her ultimate career goal, balancing work and motherhood and more. Williams English had her sights set on modelling for SI Swimsuit ever since she began modelling at 16. Before making the move to the U.S., the now 41-year-old says she would pack a sleeping bag and a pillow and board a bus from Toronto to New York to attend castings. 'Every time I'd walk through the door, I'd have to talk to myself. I was so nervous. My heart would be pounding,' she recalls. Year after year, she would come within arms reach of her dream, but never gave up hope that she would someday make it into the magazine. 'I really didn't know why it wasn't clicking back then, but now I do. Now that I'm older I look back at myself and I see where I was mentally...I just wasn't ready. I wasn't confident enough,' she says. 'I didn't know myself well enough. I was still trying to keep up with every other model and trying to be like every other model.' But after years of trying to fit in, Williams English had enough. 'I feel like I kind of came into myself and in my early 30s…There was something inside me that was dying to come out. I want to get tattoos. I want to dye my hair red. I want to get a whole bunch of piercings. I want to do what I want to do," she says. In 2015, she joined the cast of the E! reality series WAGS: Los Angeles, where she began to build her personal brand and amass a large online following. As she began moving through the world to the beat of her own drum, the modelling world took notice of her newfound confidence. 'There was a certain point in my life where I was like, I'm just going to dress and do whatever the hell I want,' she says. 'People are going to love it because I'm going to be so confident doing it that nobody will question it.' At 39, a pregnant Williams English received the call she had been waiting for her entire career. 'I thought it was a joke… but then when I hung up, I was like… I see why this is happening for me now,' she says. 'I would do it all over again. I'd make the same mistakes… It brought me to this space where I feel the most confident. I know who I am; I don't follow anybody else. I'm a leader. I truly just want to be that representation of this young girl who has these dreams and makes it all happen for herself.'Williams English is in the wonderful and exhausting trenches of life with a toddler. The model juggles her busy career with swimming lessons and caring for her 2-year-old daughter. Although she admits that it's "not all perfect" she's being careful to make choices that ensure her daughter has a present and happy mother. "Everything I do revolves around her," she says. "When I think about my future and I make decisions… I'm thinking about her future, not my own." Like many moms with young children, she's had to work to find her rhythm. Williams English says she has a newfound urge to take care of herself. "I look at myself and I have a full head of grey hair which I struggle with. It's definitely challenging having this type of career. Being 41 and looking at yourself aging, you're trying to stop the clock and do any anti-aging regimens that you can," she says. "You just have to find the right balance so that you get enough self scary as mom, you want to be there for your child and be healthy. You're worried about ever leaving them on this planet without you." Williams English's wellness journey includes hormone replacement therapy after bloodwork revealed she had low testosterone. "I was very moody. I was snapping at everybody in the morning. I wasn't depressed, but I was just kind of mad - angry at everything. Everything was a catastrophe for me… I was having really bad anxiety," she says. "I was literally crawling out of bed. I was really, really exhausted." Now that she's back on track, she's taking her time and is committed to building a career with staying power. "Slow and steady," she says. In January, Williams English travelled to Jamaica for her third SI Swimsuit photoshoot. Even though she was named Rookie of the Year in 2023, she admits that she never takes the opportunity to pose for the magazine for granted. 'Every year, it's still like the first time. I'm waiting for the call. When you find out you're shooting again… it's so exciting,' she says. 'I don't look at any of this as work. This is truly my passion and what I'm made for. I feel super grateful and super blessed to be in this moment in life where everything is just amazing. My 40s are really amazing right now. This is my favourite era.'
