Parents' support key to school success, says S'wak Transport Minister

Lee takes a group photo with all the participants of the Zumbathon 3.0. MIRI (Aug 10): Parents play a vital role in ensuring a school's success, and their active involvement in its activities and improving its learning environment is proof of that commitment, said Transport Minister Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin. When speaking at the Zumbathon 3.0 programme held at SK St Joseph Miri yesterday, he commended parents for turning up to support the school's fundraising initiative. 'I am very proud that this event is attended by many parents. This shows that parents strongly support any activity organised by the PTA (Parent-Teacher Association). Congratulations and well done to all parents present,' he said. The Senadin assemblyman stressed the progress and success of a school depended on both the commitment of its administrators and the backing of the PTA. He added the event not only promoted a healthy lifestyle but also strengthened the relationship between the school and its parent community. The event brought together teachers, parents, students and alumni members while the zumba session energised the crowd. Lee said he would continue to provide assistance to the PTA, particularly in programmes that enhanced the education of children. 'Our presence here today is not just to take part in a healthy activity like Zumba, but more importantly to show moral support to the PTA's efforts. Programmes like this indirectly raise awareness of the importance of sports and recreation for good health, and provide strong moral encouragement to students.' Lee also pledged RM10,000 funding to support the school's initiatives and development. Also present were SK St Joseph Miri headmaster Henry Edward Tarang; PTA chairman Goh Ser Seng; chairman of the school board Mark Liew; and SK St Joseph's Alumni president Gerald Goh. lead Lee Kim Shin miri parents school's success
