AR Rahman's goosebump-inducing Vande Mataram on Independence Day. Watch
Singer-composer AR Rahman recently sang his iconic song 'Vande Mataram' during a live concert. He dedicated the song to the crowd who cheered for his singing the video, amid cheers and whistles, Rahman can be seen greeting the crowd by saying, "Happy Independence Day". He then sings 'Vande Mataram' along with his crew as everyone sings along with him. It is Sony Music India's largest-selling non-film album to date. The album, released on August 12, 1997, commemorated the 50th anniversary of India's independence.'Vande Mataram' was released in 28 countries across the world. Rahman also performed live at Vijay Chowk in New Delhi on August 14, 1997, on the eve of the Golden Jubilee of India's independence. India's then Prime Minister, Inder Kumar Gujral was also among the the work front, Rahman recently composed music for director Hansal Mehta's upcoming series 'Gandhi'. The film had its world premiere at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) from September 4 to 14, has also collaborated with Academy Awards winner Hans Zimmer for Nitesh Tiwari's epic 'Ramayana'. A month ago, he shared a picture of himself with Zimmer and captioned it as, "With @hanszimmer #ramayanamovie (sic)."Rahman is known for his compositions and singing in many patriotic films and period dramas.
