According to the financial daily's report, the Sant Rohidas Leather Industries & Charmakar Development Corporation (LIDCOM), which shares geographical indication (GI) certification for Kolhapuri chappals with Karnataka's LIDKAR, is considering legal measures. The Kolhapuri chappals received GI designation on December 11, 2018, including eight districts—four each in Maharashtra and Karnataka. The craft industry's substantial size contrasts with merely 95 artisans registered as authorised GI users. Maharashtra's industry department has engaged in talks with LIDCOM, according to industry secretary P Anbalagan. A senior LIDCOM representative was quoted in the report as saying, "We are in the process of making some decisions, and legal recourse will certainly be involved." The official added, "Since the company is based in Italy, we are evaluating the legal options available in this situation. If required, LIDCOM will approach the appropriate channel through India's ministry of commerce." A Maharashtra government official said: "Prima facie, a vendor should not be using GI-registered name, logo, or invoicing product under GI identity". Legal specialists indicate that India's Geographical Indication regulations safeguard registered products from unauthorised commercial usage of their names or implied origins, but not from design imitation. IP lawyer Priyanka Khimani says that proprietors can enhance protection by securing trademark registration for their name/logo in foreign jurisdictions. "Unless Prada markets or sells these sandals using the word 'Kolhapuri' or implies a link to Kolhapur's craftsmanship, there is no legal recourse." Nevertheless, Khimani highlighted the ethical considerations. "There is a responsibility on international fashion houses to acknowledge the cultural heritage they borrow from. It would be meaningful for both brands and artisans if there was transparent commercial collaboration and due credit." Organisations such as Nabard provide assistance in post-GI registration activities, including artisan enrolment and marketing seminars, whilst state-level implementation can facilitate these results. Khimani suggests that GI-registered proprietors could enhance their global protection by registering associated marks and names as trademarks internationally. UP Police announces final result for Head Operator recruitment 2022 UP Police Head Operator result 2025: The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) has officially declared the final selection result for the Direct Recruitment-2022 of Head Operator / Head Operator (Mechanical) posts under the UP Police Radio Cadre. A total of 936 candidates have been selected for appointment based on a multi-stage recruitment process. As per the announcement made on the Board's website the final selection has been carried out in strict adherence to the reservation policies and procedural guidelines established by the Government of Uttar Pradesh. The selection result is now available for candidates to download by entering their registration number and date of birth. Recruitment received over 76,000 applications The recruitment drive was initiated via Notification No. PRPB One-3 (34)/2020, dated January 6, 2022, for filling 936 posts. A total of 76,516 online applications were received. The online written examination was conducted across 11 districts in three shifts on January 30 and January 31, 2024. Three persons were arrested on charges of allegedly raping a woman inside a law college premises in Kolkata and have been remanded to police custody till July 1, Kolkata Police said. The incident happened on Wednesday night but it came to light today. 2025 Honda SP125, SP160 Gets TFT Screen; Check Price, Features
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India is working on updating its motorcycle lineup. As part of the process, the Japanese automaker has launched the latest iteration of the SP125 and the SP160 with a TFT instrument cluster. Apart from that, the bikes also get cosmetic changes. With these revisions in place, the SP125 now starts at Rs 92,678 (ex-showroom), while the slightly bigger SP160 comes at Rs 1.22 lakh (ex-showroom). The new TFT instrument cluster in both the commuter motorcycles enables Bluetooth connectivity. It also opens doors to connectivity features via Honda RoadSync application which also has turn-by-turn navigation on the screen. Additionally, it provides all the necessary information like real-time fuel economy, range and average fuel efficiency while also displaying the basics like speedometer, fuel gauge, odometer, and trip meter. The bikes come with an idle start/stop function that enhances fuel efficiency by automatically turning off the engine during short pauses. Additionally, there is a silent starter that eliminates the jolt when starting the engine. Furthermore, the manufacturer has refreshed the graphic design on the SP125, while the SP160 features a new LED headlight. The Honda SP125 continues to have the same mechanics. It still has the same 123 cc single-cylinder which produces 10 hp of power at 7,500 rpm and 10.9 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm. This power is transferred to the wheel via a 5-speed multiplate wet clutch. Similarly, the Honda SP160 continues to seek power from a 162 cc single-cylinder engine. This unit produces 13 hp of power at 7,500 rpm and 14.8 Nm of peak torque at 5,250 rpm. It works in conjunction with a 5-speed transmission multi-plate wet clutch. This unit is nestled in a diamond type frame.
