Portion of 78 highway in Imperial Valley closed after alfalfa spill catches fire
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Both directions of the 78 highway in Imperial Valley were closed Monday afternoon after alfalfa plants spilled and caught fire. Fire crews were battling the fire that started around 4 p.m. Monday on SR-78, just east of Midway Well, near the Arizona border. Vehicle overturns in Ramona after striking boulder in middle of road
RAMONA, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — A car overturned and landed on its roof on eastbound State Route 78/San Pasqual Valley Road in Ramona after it reportedly struck a boulder in the roadway, according to authorities. The incident was reported Monday shortly after 12:45 p.m., per California Highway Patrol's traffic incident log. See real-time road conditions on the FOX 5/KUSI Live Traffic Map Preliminary reports indicated a red Chevrolet Cruze struck a boulder in the middle lane of SR-78 near Indian Oaks Road. It then overturned and landed on its roof. According to an update at 1:13 p.m., a SigAlert was issued due to all lanes being blocked off to traffic.
