Cabinet approval for registration fee exemption for LIFE Mission land

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Cabinet meeting has decided to exempt stamp duty and registration fees for land pooled for the LIFE Mission free housing project of the government. This is applicable to land parcels received as donation, sale or any other mode. The beneficiary will have to submit a certificate from the district collector or a tahsildar assigned by him stating that the land is for house construction under the Mission. The exemption is for two years from the date of order. The meeting approved the tripartite agreement for the Wayanad Township project. Project's special officer S Suhas has been assigned with its implementation. A tribal taluk supply office will be established at Attappady. Rs 95,32,500 will be sanctioned from the Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF) to provide assistance to 473 people who lost their houses, either fully or partially, in natural disasters in Pathanamthitta since 2023. The meeting decided to implement the Telecommunications (Right of Way) Rules 2024 in the state. Retired district judge E Baiju will be reappointed as Kerala Lok Ayukta Registrar for another two years. Retirement age in Kerala Feeds, the PSU under the Animal Husbandry Department, will be raised from 58 to 60 years. Rs 2.86 lakh will be sanctioned from the CMDRF to reimburse the treatment cost of literacy activist late K V Rabia. The government guarantee for the Kerala Social Security Pension Limited will be raised from Rs 6,000 crore to Rs 14,000 crore.

T'puram: The cabinet on Thursday approved the tripartite agreement for the Wayanad Township project and appointed S Suhas as special officer for its implementation. The cabinet also decided to waive the registration and stamp duty charges for Life Mission beneficiaries acquiring land for house construction, subject to certification by the district collector or designated officer. A similar exemption was approved for nine flood-affected beneficiaries who received homes built by the Muthoot Pappachan Foundation in Chittar village. It has been decided to establish a tribal taluk supply office in Attapadi, Palakkad. New posts, including taluk supply officer and rationing inspector, will be created, and staff reallocated from the civil supplies department. Financial aid totalling Rs 95,32,500 from CMDRF has been sanctioned for 473 individuals in Pathanamthitta district who lost homes partially or fully to natural calamities since Jan 2023. The cabinet also decided to implement the 2024 Telecom (Right of Way) Rules. A govt guarantee has been approved for a Rs 50cr loan that the SC/ST development corporation will raise from NSKFDC. It has also been decided to reappoint retired district judge E Baiju as the registrar of the Lok Ayukta for two years. KOCHI: The Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) is set to take a significant leap in digital innovation with the launch of CIAL 2.0, a comprehensive initiative aimed at streamlining airport operations and enhancing the passenger experience. Chief Minister and CIAL Chairman Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the project, developed at a cost of `200 crore, at the CIAL Trade Fair and Exhibition Centre on May 19. CIAL Managing Director S Suhas, IAS, said the digital transformation is part of a broader mission to modernise the airport's core infrastructure. The upgrades focus on strengthening cybersecurity, increasing operational efficiency, and introducing AI-driven technologies to ensure smoother and more secure journeys for passengers. One of the highlights is the Cyber Defence Operations Centre (CDOC), the first full-scale, on-premise server facility of its kind at any Indian airport. Set up with support from CDAC, the centre is designed to provide real-time threat intelligence, 24/7 monitoring and quick response to digital threats. The initiative also introduces a wide range of advanced technologies across the airport. These include AI-powered surveillance systems with over 4,000 intelligent cameras, full-body scanners, and an automated tray retrieval system to ease congestion at security checkpoints. The security infrastructure is further reinforced with the inclusion of liquid explosive detectors, portable X-ray scanners, and threat containment vessels. Behind the scenes, CIAL's operational backbone is undergoing a significant revamp. The airport operational database has been upgraded, flight information and announcement systems have been enhanced, and a new data centre based on hyper-converged infrastructure has been established to support seamless operations. Following the launch, the Aero Digital Summit will be held at the same venue from 2:30pm to 8.30pm, concluding with a panel discussion focused on the future of technology and innovation in the airport sector.
