Terengganu Tops STPM 2024 with Highest National CGPA

KUALA LUMPUR: Terengganu has once again emerged as the top-performing state in the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) examination, achieving the highest national Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.12 in 2024. This marks the sixth consecutive year the state has led the rankings, improving from 3.11 in 2023 and surpassing the national average of 2.85. State Education Department deputy director (Learning Sector) Wan Zuraidi Che Wan Zaid revealed that the number of students securing straight A's rose to 110, up from 79 in 2023. 'Siti Asihah Othman from SMK Sultan Ahmad was named the top STPM 2024 student in the Social Science stream at the national level,' he announced. Pahang also showcased strong results, with 82 candidates achieving a perfect CGPA of 4.00. SMK Jerantut was recognised as the Best Overall National Form Six Centre. Meanwhile, Johor reported seven students scoring 5As and 167 with 4As, recording a state CGPA of 2.95, above the national average. Sabah saw 146 candidates attain a CGPA of 4.00, up from 130 in 2023. Kelantan, Perak, Kedah, Penang, Sarawak, and Perlis also reported notable improvements, with Perlis maintaining zero failures for five straight years.

Omar (front, centre) joins STPM top achievers in celebration during the results announcement ceremony. — Photo by Kong Jun Liung KUCHING (June 24): Sarawak recorded a slight improvement in the 2024 Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) exam, with 92 candidates achieving a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.0, said state Education Department director Omar Mahli. He said this was an increase of 0.06 per cent compared to the 88 candidates in the 2023 STPM examination. 'In terms of overall CGPA, the number of candidates that scored between 3.75 to 3.99 is 312, while 1,570 candidates scored between 3.00 to 3.74,' he said after the announcement of the 2024 STPM results at Dewan Jamilah, Yayasan Sarawak here today. He added Sarawak achieved an overall CGPA of 2.68 in the 2024 STPM. Omar said a total of 5,877 candidates registered for the 2024 STPM exam, up from the 5,838 that registered in 2023, while 5,717 candidates sat for all three semesters. He noted Sarawak saw improvements in various subjects, including Accounting, Mathematics, Economics, Information and Communications Technology, Usuluddin, Tahfiz Al-Quran, Chemistry, Syariah, Business studies, and Literature in English. 'A total of 5,612 candidates, or 98.16 per cent, passed all four or five subjects. 'To be eligible for the STPM certificate, a candidate must obtain at least a partial pass in one subject. 'For the STPM 2024 examination, I am pleased to inform that out of the 5,717 candidates who sat for the exam, all are eligible to be awarded the STPM 2024 certificate,' Omar announced. Among the notable achievers is Kong Wei Hang from SMK Sungai Merah, Sibu, who was recognised for his outstanding performance and will be receiving an award from the Federal Ministry of Education in Kuala Lumpur today (June 25). Meanwhile, the 12 schools in Sarawak which achieved excellent STPM results with a CGPA of over 3.00 were SMK Saribas in Betong; SMK Sacred Heart, SMK Chung Hua, SMK Bandar Sibu, SMK Rosli Dhoby, SMK Methodist and SMK Tung Hua in Sibu; SMK Merbau, SMK Chung Hua and Kolej Tun Datuk Tuanku Haji Bujang in Miri; as well as SMK Green Road and SMK Bako in Kuching. SMK Sacred Heart was also named the best national-level Form Six Centre for both Mod 2 and Mod 3 categories.

KUALA LUMPUR, June 24 (Bernama) -- Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has congratulated the 41,434 candidates who received their Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) 2024 examination results today. In a Facebook post, Ahmad Zahid extended his best wishes to all candidates, regardless of their performance. 'If you achieved excellent results, Alhamdulillah and keep striving forward. If the outcome is not as expected, don't worry. This is not the end, but a new beginning. Many more opportunities will come, insya-Allah. 'Congratulations and well done to all! You have done your best. Proud of everyone and wish you all the best!' he said. Ahmad Zahid, who is also Rural and Regional Development Minister, also expressed appreciation to the parents and teachers for their continued support and encouragement behind the students' success. Malaysian Examinations Council (MPM) chairman Prof Datuk Dr Md Amin Md Taff said the CGPA rose slightly by 0.01 point, up from 2.84 the previous year. He added that a total of 1,266 candidates, or 3.06 per cent, achieved a CGPA of 4.00, an increase of 150 candidates compared to 2023. 'In 2024, the number of candidates who scored 5As in all five subjects increased from 41 in the 2023 STPM exam to 53,' he told a press conference here today. He also said the number of candidates who scored 4As increased from 1,087 in 2023 to 1,228 in 2024. MORE TO COME

PETALING JAYA: The Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) 2024 exam results will be released on June 24, says the Malaysian Examination Council. It said that candidates may check their results via SMS by typing STPM (space) MyKad number (space) roll number to 15888 from 11am on June 24 until noon on July 4. Alternatively, the results can be checked through from 11.30am on June 24. A total of 41,434 candidates sat for the STPM 2024 at 670 examination centres nationwide.
