(Photo by Tomoki Mera) WATARU SUZUKI SHANGHAI -- China's consumer price index (CPI) rose marginally June, its first increase in five months, the National Bureau of Statistics said Wednesday, while producer deflation fell by the largest rate in two years, underlining continued uncertainty amid a global trade war and sluggish domestic demand. The CPI increased 0.1%, reversing a 0.1% drop in May. For the first half of the year, the gauge fell by 0.1%.

WATARU SUZUKI SHANGHAI -- The reliability of Chinese power banks has come under scrutiny following product recalls by major brands, with reports of units catching fire on flights prompting stricter regulations of the portable energy storage devices. Last month, electronics makers Anker Innovations and Shenzhen Romoss Technology recalled a combined 1.2 million power banks in China, warning that the products could overheat and catch fire under extreme conditions.
