Vijayawada: NTR District Police organised a mega awareness programme with the goal of making Andhra Pradesh a drug-free state at Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium here on Thursday to mark the International Day Against-Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. A mega walkathon was also conducted from the Stadium to Hotel DV Manor on MG Road with participation of around 3,000 people including college students, officials and the staff from various departments. NTR district collector G Lakshmisha, Commissioner of police SV Rajasekhara Babu, East MLA Gadde Ramamohan Rao, DCPs KGV Saritha and ABTS Udayarani, additional DCPs, circle inspectors, sub inspector of police and others participated in the walkathon. Speaking on the occasion, collector Lakshmisha emphasised the need to make NTR district free from drugs and sedatives. Commissioner of police Rajasekhara Babu said this event marks an important step towards achieving a drug-free Andhra Pradesh and NTR District. He informed that in the recent operation, the police identified 125 students who became drug addicts and affirmed that the city police would not rest until drug abuse is totally eradicated.

Vijayawada: City Police Commissioner SV Rajasekhara Babu extended financial support to the family of a deceased Home Guard, continuing a commendable initiative within the Vijayawada City Police. The Home Guards working in the city voluntarily contribute a portion of their salaries to provide financial assistance to the families of deceased or retired colleagues, ensuring they do not face undue hardship. In a recent unfortunate incident, Home Guard P Srimannarayana (45), who was serving in the Vijayawada City Home Guard Unit, passed away due to a brain stroke. To support his grieving family, a cheque of Rs 5 lakh was presented to his wife, P Narasamma, on Monday by City Police Commissioner SV Rajasekhara Babu at the Police Commissioner's office here. DCP (Admin) KGV Saritha, Home Guard RI K Sudhakara Reddy and other officials were also present.

VIJAYAWADA: NTR district police conducted night patrol and search operations under the limits of all police stations in the district from Saturday night to Sunday morning to ensure protection and safety of the people. As per the instructions of the commissioner of police SV Rajasekhara Babu, police under the supervision of inspectors searched several hundred vehicles, lodges, hotels and other places. The commissioner of police said the police are conducting vehicle searches to seize ID liquor, Ganja, banned sedatives and to detect the unnumbered vehicles. He said the prime objective of the police patrolling and searches is that people should live in a peaceful atmosphere and to prevent unlawful and untoward incidents in the district. He said the police keep vigil at the suspected and vulnerable areas that are prone to crime.
