Tinnu Anand's father, Inder Raj Anand, was a well-known writer in the Bollywood film industry. Despite his being a part of the glamor world, he did not want his son to enter the industry. But, the creative streak in him forced the veteran actor to go to his dad and confront him about his desire to direct a film. Tinnu had revealed that this had upset his father. But when he saw that his son did not want to do anything else, Anand was sent to the Satyajit Ray School. In an interview, the Ghajini actor has revealed how he was offered K Abass' film Saat Hindustani. The heroine of this film, Neena Singh, suggests Amitabh Bachchan 's name for a role in the film. To this, Abbas had said that Big B will have to come to Mumbai for auditions at his own expense, and this is how he landed in the dream city. It was Tinnu who took him to the filmmaker's office and was given the 'dirty job' of offering Big B Rs. 5000 for the entire film. Reportedly, Anand even got in a spat with Madhuri Dixit over her costume, which made the actress walk out of Shanakht. He is married to Shahnaz, daughter of veteran actor Agha. His wife, who is a writer and former editor of Star & Style magazine, financially supported the family when the actor was initially struggling in the industry.

Despite having a successful career in the entertainment industry, Big B was about to quit cinema forever. After giving back-to-back flops, Amitabh Bachchan got fed up and decided to return home. During the downfall of Big B, he was offered films like Zanjeer (1973), written by Salim-Javed. In 1975, the iconic film Sholay was offered to Amitabh. But do you know which film made Big B a superstar? It's not Sholay or Zanjeer, but this film, released in 1978, put Amitabh back on track. The film we are talking about is Muqaddar ka Sikandar, which became the highest-grossing film in 1978. During the 70s, the film ranked as the third highest-grossing film after Sholay and Bobby. The film played a huge role in Amitabh's life, reviving his career. On the other hand, the audience desperately wanted to see Big B on screen, to get a ticket, the audience waited in a long queue, and sometimes, the tickets were also sold overnight. This proved the stardom of Amitabh Bachchan in Bollywood. Directed by Prakash Mehra, Muqaddar ka Sikandar featured Amitabh Bachchan, Vinod Khanna, Rakhee, Rekha, Amjad Khan, Ranjit, Kader Khan, and Nirupa Roy in pivotal roles. Talking about Muqaddar ka Sikandar's budget, the film had an estimated budget of Rs 1 crore, and the film did an impressive business of Rs 26 crore, dominating at the box office. This 182-minute action-thriller captured the audience's attention the filled every seat in theatres. Released on 27 October 1978, on the occasion of Diwali, Big B's film proved to be a huge success in the entertainment industry. After the success of Muqaddar ka Sikandar, the film was remade in Telugu as Prema Tanrangalu (1980) and in Tamil as Amara Kaviyam (1981). It is interesting to note that this was the last film in which Vinod Khanna and Big B appeared together. Apart from that, the songs from the film also played a huge role in the success of the film.

Renowned author and film historian, Hanif Zaveri spoke about it in a podcast, 'Meri Saheli' that his first affair was with a woman named Maya who worked for British Airways. He added that Bachchan's romance began with her in Kolkata when he was working there for a company. He had fallen deeply in love with Maya. But later, Big B went to Mumbai to pursue his acting career and stayed with his uncle in a Bungalow. Hanif said that Maya visited him regularly and her visits didn't go down well with his uncle. He had a fear that his mother, Teji Bachchan would find out about Maya. The author added, Maya was very bold and openly flirted with Amitabh, which made him uncomfortable. When Amitabh shared his concern with actor, Mehmood's brother, Anwar Ali, who was working with him in his debut film, 'Saat Hindustani'. he asked him to part ways with Maya. Anwar had told Bachchan, "You won't be able to spend your life with Maya. It will be difficult for her to fit into the Bachchan family, and as you move forward, more problems will arise'.' Thus, Big B broke up with Maya, according to Hanif. Meanwhile, he later met Jaya Bachchan in 1970 at the Pune Film Institute. They started developing feelings for each other when they worked together during 'Ek Nazar'. They tied the knot in 1973 after the release of 'Zanjeer'.
