Sharad Kelkar On Being Highest Paid In Tum Se Tum Tak: ‘Don't Be Jealous'

Last Updated: Actor Sharad Kelkar returns in Tum Se Tum Tak with Niharika Chouksey, premiering July 7. Kelkar, 48, addressed being the highest paid, urging people not to be jealous. Sharad Kelkar, who is set to return to television with the upcoming show Tum Se Tum Tak, has addressed reports claiming he is the highest paid actor on the series. The show, co-starring Niharika Chouksey, is slated to premiere on July 7, 2025, and marks Kelkar's return to the small screen in a leading role. In a recent interview with IANS, the 48-year-old actor responded to speculation around his remuneration, stating, 'Yes, I charge for it. What's wrong with that? If someone is earning well, people should be happy—not jealous. It's a sign of achievement. If an actor returns to television, it's because they have value. No one's calling you back just for nostalgia—you have to bring something to the table." Kelkar, who has been part of the entertainment industry for over two decades, said that his return to television was driven not just by sentiment but by substance. He also opened up about what drew him to Tum Se Tum Tak, calling its story 'extremely compelling." He revealed that the show was initially offered to him in January, but he had to turn it down due to prior shooting commitments for another series. The producers approached him again in March, and this time, upon hearing the plot, he was intrigued. What caught his attention, he shared, was the show's distinctive format, which explores the theme of 'two different worlds colliding," as seen in the promotional material. The serial centres on an unconventional romantic storyline between Anu (played by Niharika), a warm-hearted 19-year-old girl, and Aryavardhan (portrayed by Kelkar), a 46-year-old business magnate. The narrative follows the emotional challenges the duo faces while navigating societal norms. Sharad Kelkar began his television career in 2004 with Aakrosh, a drama series that aired on Doordarshan, where he portrayed the role of Inspector Sachin Kulkarni. He is married to television actress Keerti Gaekwad Kelkar, known for her portrayal of Chandni/Devika in a negative role on Saat Phere – Saloni Ka Safar. The couple also participated together in the second season of the dance reality show Nach Baliye in 2006. First Published:
