SCCC elects new committee, Frankie Liew retains presidency

KOTA KINABALU (May 31): The Sabah China Chamber of Commerce (SCCC) held its annual general meeting on Thursday at the Sabah Golf & Country Club, Bukit Padang, with 78 members in attendance, highlighting strong member engagement and support. A total of 29 candidates were nominated and elected unopposed to serve on the new committee for the 2025–2027 term. This unanimous outcome reflects unity and confidence among SCCC members. The newly elected committee is expected to convene a re-election meeting within two weeks to confirm leadership roles, in accordance with the Chamber's constitution. Datuk Frankie Liew was re-elected as president for a third term, in recognition of his visionary leadership and tireless service to the Chamber. 'I am humbled by the continued trust of our members. Together, we will build on our achievements and expand Sabah's economic ties regionally and internationally,' said Frankie. A major announcement made during the AGM was the confirmation of SCCC's upcoming business delegation to Zhengzhou, China, from 24 to 28 September 2025, to participate in the International Business & Trade Expo. This strategic mission aims to: • Promote Sabah's strengths in agriculture, tourism, logistics, halal products and green technology; • Facilitate business-matching and investment networking sessions; • Sign MoUs with key Chinese trade organizations; • Involve young entrepreneurs in cross-border collaboration initiatives.

Sabah coffee showcased at festival in China

KOTA KINABALU (May 8): A delegation from the Sabah China Chamber of Commerce (SCCC), led by Vice President and Young Entrepreneurs Committee Chairman Chiew Heng Hock, visited Tongmeng Ancient Town in Zhengzhou and Huojia County, China on April 30 for a business exchange and to participate in a local coffee festival. The delegation included Young Entrepreneurs Committee Vice Chairmen Dick Lee and Desmond Hsiu, who presented Sabah coffee products and souvenirs to their Chinese hosts. Under the arrangement of Feng Na, secretary of Tongmeng Ancient Town, the delegation toured several leading enterprises: 1. Henan Cajino Food Co., Ltd. – A top bakery chain with 45 stores, specializing in cakes, pastries and mooncakes. 2. Zhengzhou Baixing Food Co., Ltd. – A 30-year veteran in halal food production, famous for its 'Tao Lao Da' brand, capable of producing 200,000 rice dumplings daily. 3. Innolcon Medical Technology Co., Ltd. – A biomedical firm with CE, ISO13485 and FDA certifications, specializing in medical devices.
