‘Wear it with pride, courage, unity'

Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah FA women's football team's new jersey for the 2025 National Women's League competition in the new season was unveiled at the Fut8 Padang Kontena, here on Friday. The attires are named 'MyHome' and 'MyTeam'. The launching was officiated by Sabah Football Association (Safa) President Datuk Shahelmey Yahya, who is also the deputy Chief Minister. He believed the jersey carries a big message to all Sabahans as each colour, stripe and pattern symbolise the identity, courage and unity of football fans in Sabah. 'This jersey is not just clothing on the pitch, but a symbol of our determination, fighting spirit and togetherness in lifting Sabah women's football to the pinnacle of success,' he said. He also hoped the team, who finished runners-up last season after winning the title a year earlier, will make a stronger impact this season. Meanwhile, team manager Muhd Arziz Afizy Rumsani said the launch of the jersey symbolises a fresh start and renewed enthusiasm for the team ahead of the opening match against Kelana United away on July 19. 'The launch of the jersey today is an important step to boost the team's morale. This new jersey not only provides comfort to the players, but also serves as an identity and pride to bring the name of Sabah on the national stage. Sabah FA edge TOT United in MPFL match

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah FA edged TOT United 3-2 in the Malaysian Premier Futsal League (MPFL) Division 1 tie held for the first time at Dewan Sri Putatan on Sunday. They took an early two-goal lead in the first half through import player Vitor Da Silva in the 6th minute before he added another in the 13th minute. The visitors were able to reduce the deficit four minutes into the second half with a free kick converted by Mulhim Muqri. However, Igor Paulo Silva was quick to restore the two-goal lead a minute later, but it lasted only three minutes as Nurasyraaf Mohamad was able to score his team's second goal. Despite the desperate attempts by TOT United to find the equaliser, Sabah FA were able to stand firm to collect the maximum points. The victory was Sabah FA's third in eight matches played. They are currently in fourth place with 10 points. Advertisement Their next match is at home against fifth place KL City FC on May 31 at Dewan Sri Putatan. Sabah FA clinches historic home win in MPFL debut at Dewan Sri Putatan

Brazilian import Vitor Manoel Da Silva struck twice early on, giving Sabah a strong lead. TOT United responded with a free-kick goal by Mohamad Sufri Shamil, but Sabah quickly restored their advantage through Igor Paulo Silva. TOT's late second goal by Muhammad Nurasyraaf wasn't enough, as Sabah held on for a historic win. The match was witnessed by SAFA President Datuk Ir Shahelmey Yahya and Futsal Committee Chairman Muhd Rafiuddin Gulistan.
