KOTA KINABALU (Aug 5): A transit house operated by the Sabah Heart Foundation (SOSHF) has opened for heart patients in the state.
SOSHF president Datuk Eva Susau said the house, located near the Sabah Women and Children's Hospital, is provided free of charge to heart patients coming from rural areas to ease their burden.
'This house started operating last April and is provided free to patients from rural areas such as Pitas, Kota Belud, and Beluran. They can stay temporarily while awaiting treatment or hospital appointments,' she told the media after a courtesy visit to the Head of State, Tun Musa Aman, at Istana Seri Kinabalu on Tuesday.
According to Eva, the visit aimed to inform the Head of State about the association's activities and also to invite Tun Musa as the guest of honor for next year's 45th Annual Charity Dinner.
SOSHF, established in 1981, has sent over 733 heart patients from Sabah to undergo heart surgery in Kuala Lumpur.
