Sabah Tourist Association to host blood donation drive

Kota Kinabalu: To support the blood bank at Queen Elizabeth Hospital and raise public awareness on the importance of regular blood donation, the Sabah Tourist Association (STA) will hold a blood donation campaign in collaboration with the hospital's Blood Bank Unit. The event will be held at M2 Kitchen, Donggongon, Penampang, on Aug 24 from 9am to 3pm. Healthy and eligible individuals are warmly encouraged to take part in this charitable initiative. STA Chairman Melanie Chu said hospital blood banks often face shortages, particularly during festive periods or emergencies when demand surges. 'This campaign brings the community together to help ensure a stable blood supply and promote the life-saving importance of blood donation,' she said. The campaign is led by Luke Yong Vui Foh and Sharon Ginibun, with preparations progressing smoothly and strong support from local businesses and the public. More than 15 enterprises and individuals have contributed sponsorships, including cash, goods, and services as tokens of appreciation. In addition to blood donation, the Penampang Lions Club will offer free health screenings at the event. All donors will receive a special gift package, which includes 5kg white rice, Tenom pomelo, Sabah Tea, Khong Guan biscuits, beverages, discount vouchers and more.
