The contribution was presented by The Association of Wives of Ministers and Assistant Ministers (Sabati) treasurer Datin Siti Shorgayah Ahmad Zaidin to the health clinic's medical officer Dr Mohd Sulaiman Roslan. 'Sabati has carried out its clinic upgrading programme in partnership with Petronas (Petroliam Nasional Berhad) since 2023, after identifying 26 health clinics across Sarawak (for the programme). 'We were allocated RM1.3 million, which means each clinic receives RM50,000 worth of medical and non-medical equipment. This project will run from 2023 to 2026,' she said during the handing over ceremony at the clinic here yesterday. For the record, the Telaga Air health clinic was selected as one of the recipients on July18, and received 21 clinical and 10 non-clinical items. After a site visit, Siti also identified the need for a more suitable treatment room on the clinic's ground floor particularly to accommodate elderly patients. Presently, the clinic serves around 7,000 residents with an average of at least 100 patients per day. She emphasised that health was a key pillar in building a progressive, advanced and competitive society. 'In this technological era, ensuring every individual has access to quality healthcare is increasingly important. Advancements in the health sector not only improve quality of life, but also contributes to long-term economic growth. 'Therefore, it is essential to upgrade clinic facilities as patient traffic is often high. They deserve to receive treatment in a comfortable environment,' she said. The Telaga Air health clinic was also recently selected as one of the users of the Cloud-Based Clinical Management System, which enables more systematic patient record management. This system is expected to significantly reduce waiting times at clinics compared to previous conventional methods. Also present were Pantai Damai assemblyman Datuk Abdul Rahman Junaidi and Kuching Division health officer Dr Johnny Pangkas. health clinics Kampung Telaga Air lead medical equipment

BELAGA (July 21): Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education has a long-term impact on Sarawak's human capital development, said Murum assemblyman Kennedy Chukpai Ugon. Speaking at the closing ceremony of the Sabati-Petros STEM Carnival held at SK Batu Keling Parent-Teacher Association Hall in the Bakun Resettlement Scheme, Sungai Asap on Saturday, he lauded the collaboration between the Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers Sarawak (Sabati) and Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (Petros). 'This STEM-focused initiative is not just about education; it is about preparing our children for the future. The collaboration between Sabati and Petros is a strategic investment in nurturing a technologically literate, innovative and competitive generation,' he said. He said such partnerships were vital in bridging the education gap for students in rural areas such as Sungai Asap, giving them exposure to science and technology often limited in their communities. 'This kind of forward-thinking cooperation should be emulated by other charitable organizations and corporate bodies. By supporting STEM education, we are investing in the minds that will lead our nation tomorrow.' Chukpai also expressed his appreciation to the organizers and commended their efforts in making the carnival a success, as it served as a platform for students to engage in hands-on STEM activities and discover the relevance of science and technology in everyday life. Also present were the carnival's programme coordinator for DUN N66 Cynthia Serah Emang, Belaga District Education Office representative Andrew Bang and SK Batu Keling headmaster Apoi Job Ngerong.
