An all-denim ensemble is seriously stylish – don't be afraid to try it out

A leaf and floral print takes centrestage in this ensemble in denim, elevated by perfectly matched slip-ons and a coordinating handbag. Photo: Fendi It's in almost everyone's closet, and the go-to piece for everyday cool. It's all in the jeans. Timeless, versatile, and forever in style, anything denim is a wardrobe staple. And now, there's a trend for denim-on-denim, or what some call double denim, where an all-denim ensemble is seriously stylish. It's a fad we love because it offers a range of looks ranging from relaxed to smart-casual, and even evening chic. Everyone's stepping up their denim game, – from luxury labels to high-street favourites – jeans are no longer just for relaxed days, but also for fashionable evenings and everything in between. Read more: From gym to glam: Why the fashion industry is obsessed with sportswear right now Well-known Japanese brand, Sacai, goes the traditional way with its double denim design. It features the standard denim jacket with double breast pockets, metal buttons and contrast stitching. This timeless piece is paired with baggy jeans, cuffed at the hem, for a confidently cool and put together look that is simply now. Denim gets the dressy treatment at another Japanese brand, Junya Watanabe. For his Spring/Summer 2025 menswear collection, the designer creates a distressed denim suit worn with a white shirt, black bow tie, and matching black-and-white derby shoes. There's no question it's evening wear with a modern update. Speaking of a modern update, Versace Jeans Couture's denim ensemble is not just contemporary, it's downright beautiful. The jeans and cropped jacket combo features denim that's been handpainted with one of the Italian label's signature patterns. Part of Fendi's latest line also includes a patterned denim duo consisting of straight-cut jeans and a collarless jacket. What makes this ensemble stands out is the leaf and floral print across the denim material, paired with matching denim slip-ons and the brand's popular Peekaboo bag. French brand Alaia brings its signature sultry elegance to denim in its Spring/Summer 2025 collection, reworking jeans with sculpted silhouettes, knit waistbands, and a touch of architectural flair. Read more: The latest fashion trend sees people wearing hats over stockings... One eye-catching ensemble is a sleeveless jacket paired with jeans that has a spiral zipper running down the left leg. It's a cool and playful detail that lets you zip or unzip to reveal just a hint of skin. This unexpected twist adds movement and a touch of daring to an otherwise utilitarian silhouette. From Chanel comes a denim blouse and jeans detailed with sparkling crystals arranged to resemble delicate feathers. As seen on Grammy-winning artist Dua Lipa, who is the face of the brand's new Chanel 25 handbag, the dazzling denim ensemble is a clever mix of pop star appeal and polished vglam. Whether you choose to go for the casual and classic denim-on-denim look, or go all in with flair and flamboyance, there is nothing a little 'jean therapy' can't fix.

Ensure all eyes are on you this summer with dramatic, fun outfits and accessories from Schiaparelli, Ming pumps from Aquazurra and diva-esque denim from La DoubleJ and Mother

It's all to play for this summer – with play being the operative word – whether you're donning denim like your mama used to do in the 80s or dressing to the nines in eye-catching ensembles. La DoubleJ and Mother bring Ciao Mamma! Say it loud with La Double J x Mother. Photo: Handout Advertisement Italian joie de vivre and California vibes come together in a collaboration between Milan-based lifestyle label La DoubleJ and Los Angeles-based denim brand Mother. Named Ciao Mamma!, the collection incorporates La DoubleJ's eclectic prints into pieces such as denim jackets, midi skirts and Daisy Dukes, some of them adorned with embroidery and patches. Sacai puts the James Dean back in denim Sacai embodies the timeless pairing of a leather jacket, white T-shirt and jeans. Photo: Handout The Sacai spring/summer 2025 men's collection and women's spring 2025 collection pay homage to one of the most iconic actors in history: James Dean , who mesmerised movie lovers with performances in films such as Rebel Without a Cause (1955) and Giant (1956), but died in a car crash at the tender age of 24. Dean came to embody the timeless pairing of a leather jacket, white T-shirt and jeans, so it's no surprise that denim plays a key role in the range. Sacai's founder Chitose Abe didn't just make her own jeans, however: she teamed up with the original denim purveyor, Levi's, reimagining garments in silhouettes and shapes that are unmistakably Sacai but stay true to the workwear roots of the San Francisco-born brand. 'I have always been inspired by James Dean, and although he had many iconic styles, the denim style was absolutely one of them, so having Levi's with his style came naturally,' says Abe of the partnership. Schiaparelli asks: what's up croc? You won't get lost in the crowd wearing this Schiaparelli dress and matching bag made from crocodile-embossed calf leather. Photo: Handout

Geraldine Viswanathan Brings Bold Energy to the Marvelverse

Justin French Pullover, shorts, Sacai. Boots, Ugg x Sacai. Necklace, bracelets, Bulgari. When she was six, Geraldine Viswanathan auditioned for a spot at a performing arts school in her hometown of Newcastle, Australia. The task? Pretend to walk a dog. 'I rocked it,' she says, smiling at the memory. 'They saw the dog. They felt the dog.' Less than two decades later, the actress faced an entirely different challenge: losing her virginity on prom night. In 2018's Blockers , she stole the show as John Cena's sporty, sex-positive daughter, exuding a cool confidence well beyond her years. Her career took off from there—she exposed Hugh Jackman's fraud in the HBO film Bad Education , tempted fate alongside Daniel Radcliffe and Steve Buscemi on TBS's Miracle Workers , and unleashed cross-country chaos with her lesbian bestie (played by Drive-Away Dolls . Most recently, in Prime Video's rom-com You're Cordially Invited , she played Will Ferrell's daughter, a pairing that sparked some palpable comedic chemistry. 'He made me laugh so hard,' she says. 'I've had some really great dads.' Viswanathan thrives on pushing herself into uncharted territory with each new role. She's not just showing up and delivering a deadpan punch line—each performance feels like an invitation to watch someone redefine what we think they're capable of. Justin French Blazer, shirt, Bottega Veneta. Earrings, Cartier. Her chameleon talents will be on display soon in 'Oh, Hi!' , a rom-com-gone-wrong directed by Sophie Brooks and co-written with recently rebranded as *The New Avengers in a unique marketing move—where she'll take on the role of Mel, the assistant to Julia Louis-Dreyfus's domineering CIA director Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. She thinks the role was meant to be: 'When I was 18, I came to L.A. with my family, and my mom saw a psychic who said I'd be in a superhero movie,' she says. 'I need to get that psychic's number!' Filming the movie was unlike anything she had ever encountered before: 'There was no green screen, and it was the craziest set that I've ever been on, just the sheer number of extras.' And contrary to what some fans might expect from a big-budget franchise, there was no special initiation: 'The most Marvel-y thing I had to do was meet with the security team and get a little badge.' 'Feeling undervalued inspired me to act because I love to do it—not because anybody is asking me to do it.' With precious few women of color taking on leading roles in Hollywood, the space can be frustratingly limited. Viswanathan—born to an Indian father, who's a nuclear medicine specialist, and a Swiss artist mother—is keenly aware of this, having felt her ethnicity was a barrier to getting cast in Australia. 'It was an experience that has defined who I am, especially growing up as the only person of color in a small, white town,' she says. 'Feeling undervalued inspired me to act because I love to do it—not because anybody is asking me to do it. When you approach life that way, it becomes more magnetic.' She's also managed to reach It girl status, recently attending her third Paris Fashion Week, where she sat front row beside fellow Aussie Rose Byrne at the Zimmermann show. 'She's had some of my favorite roles,' Viswanathan gushes. '[Byrne] is so brilliant, cool, kind, and funny—she was killing me.' Justin French Pullover, shorts, Sacai. Boots, Ugg x Sacai. Necklace, bracelets, Bulgari. When it comes to her own viewing habits, Viswanathan gravitates toward ensemble comedies like The Hangover . As for Harry Potter, which stars her Miracle Worker s castmate Radcliffe, she admits, 'I was, like, seven when I went to see the first movie and had to leave the theater because I was was a scene where a troll put a wand up his nose. It was too much for me.' So does that rule out the fantasy genre in the future? If Viswanathan has taught us anything, it's that the unexpected is her baseline—but she's always grounded in an unapologetic authenticity. 'I could see myself going there…it's not my first instinct, because I always try to do things I'd actually want to watch,' she says, before adding wryly: 'And I'm still a little bitch.' Sacai and Levi's channel James Dean in latest collab collection

Sacai and Levi's have channeled James Dean in a Rebel Without a Cause moment for their new denim-driven latest collab collection, unveiled Monday. Entitled Levi's® x Sacai, the collection disrupts the American brand's iconic silhouettes via the Japanese label's distinctive assemblage techniques and experimental design. 'While embracing Sacai designer and creative director Chitose Abe 's visionary approach to transforming familiar garments into unexpected new forms, the new Levi's® x Sacai collection celebrates the heritage of Levi's® denim craftsmanship,' the giant jeans label said in a release. Abe had teased her initial partnership ideas for the capsule collection in her June 2024 show. This new collection features overalls with elephantine legs, or classic denim jackets subverted with Abe's signature flight jacket nylon trim. Others are reimagined as Victorian layered cloaks. Blazers in black denim are finished in yellow stitching, as are denim Tyrolean tunics. Pockets are displaced, doubled up or overlapping, in a collection that includes womenswear and menswear. Featuring actress and model Chase Sui Wonders, alongside model Chandler Frye, the ad campaign blends the timeless lived-in quality of denim with the avant-garde approach of Abe. Shot by photographer Craig McDean and styled by Karl Templer, it's all about a rebel with a fashion cause—part of the essence of both brands' DNA. The Levi's® x Sacai collection will be available through exclusive pop-ups at Selfridges on May 26, Landmark Hong Kong on May 27 and worldwide starting May 28 on the Levi's® app, in select Levi's® flagship stores, and at select Sacai retail locations. Founded in 1999 in Tokyo, Sacai is now consistently one of the ten best runway collections staged in Paris, where it presents every season. Levi's, founded in 1873, is the ultimate denim brand par excellence. Available in 110 countries in 3,400 stores, the corporate entity Levi Strauss & Co. reported annual revenues of $6.4 billion in 2024.
