Sachin Pilot, Ashok Gehlot Bury The Hatchet? Two Congress Leaders Meet After Years Of Rift
Last Updated: Sachin Pilot called on Ashok Gehlot to invite him to a family event, triggering speculations about a possible reconciliation between the two leaders. Raising speculations about a possible reconciliation, Congress general secretary Sachin Pilot met former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot in Jaipur on Saturday. Pilot called on Gehlot to invite him to the tribute ceremony for his father and former union minister Rajesh Pilot, scheduled for June 11 in Dausa. However, none of the two leaders directly and publicly opened up about their speculated patchup. Pilot's father had passed away in a road accident in June 2000. Pilot-Gehlot Reconciliation On Cards? The duo had engaged in a political feud over the state Congress leadership, which led to a massive crisis in 2020. This meeting was the first one in years, triggering speculations of a likely reconciliation. 'AICC General Secretary Shri @SachinPilot invited me to a program organised on the 25th death anniversary of former union minister Rajesh Pilot at his residence. Rajesh Pilot ji and I entered the Lok Sabha together for the first time in 1980 and remained Members of Parliament together for nearly 18 years. The sorrow of his untimely demise still lingers with us. His passing was also a great loss to the party," Gehlot posted on X, where he also shared the video of the meeting, in which it was all smiles around. आज पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री @ashokgehlot51 जी से मुलाकात की।मेरे पिता स्व. राजेश पायलट जी की 25वीं पुण्यतिथि पर 11 जून को दौसा में आयोजित श्रद्धांजलि समारोह में उन्हें शामिल होने के लिए निवेदन किया। — Sachin Pilot (@SachinPilot) June 7, 2025 Pilot-Gehlot Rift The differences between the two leaders stem from Congress's Assembly poll victory in 2018, in which then state party chief, Sachin Pilot, was largely given the credit for the results in the elections. However, the Chief Ministerial post went to Ashok Gehlot for a third time, and Pilot was made his deputy. In July 2020, Pilot led a rebellion against Gehlot, the CM of his own party, along with 18 loyal MLAs, as he accused the senior Congress leader of ignoring young leaders and not respecting his role as the head of the state Congress party. Gehlot responded to Pilot's accusations with a 'nikamma" and 'nakara" (useless and incompetent) charge, accusing him of siding with the rival BJP to topple his government. As a result, Pilot was stripped of his Deputy CM role and PCC chief. Attempts were made by top Congress leadership, including Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi, to mediate between the two, however, it remained inconsequential. Congress was later voted out of power in 2023. Rajasthan BJP govt has lost grip on state affairs with too many power centres: Sachin Pilot
JAIPUR: The BJP-led Rajasthan government has lost its grip on the administration with many power centres tugging at the reins, Congress leader Sachin Pilot has said. The former deputy chief minister of the state also praised the Army for its role in Operation Sindoor and paid tributes to those killed in the conflict. "There is so much tension among them that it has lost its grip," he said on Thursday. He also said the state government is not ready to hold elections for panchayats and other local bodies. Pilot alleged that the delimitation of municipal bodies was being done arbitrarily, to suit the ruling party. The former Rajasthan chief minister also commented on Operation Sindoor, already contentious with allegations of third-party mediations. "The declaration of ceasefire between India and Pakistan by the President of America was unexpected," he said. US President Donald Trump had repeatedly made claims that he had a role to play in the truce between India and Pakistan. "The fact that the central government has not denied his statement is like confirming the statement," Pilot said.

US quick to announce ceasefire but have they assured Pak will not repeat such actions: Pilot
Raipur: Congress general secretary and Chhattisgarh in-charge Sachin Pilot , after meeting with the family of Dinesh Mirania on Sunday evening, said that they want the forces behind such incidents eliminated permanently. Mirania was killed by terrorists in Pahalgam on 22 April. "The valour and bravery demonstrated by the Indian Army are unmatched — we salute all of them," Pilot added while speaking to the media in the state. Pilot raised concerns about Pakistan's involvement, asking, "Have we received any assurance that Pakistan will never dare to commit such acts again? That remains a big question." He expressed regret over the Kashmir issue raised by the US. "The ceasefire is being announced by the President of the United States, while our core issue is terrorism , yet the Kashmir issue is being deliberately brought into discussions," he stated. Pilot called for a special session of Parliament. "Until recently, India was being compared to China, but now the comparison is with Pakistan — which is not appropriate," he said. "We do not trust Pakistan. Has the US given any assurance that Pakistan will not repeat such actions? This needs to be discussed." Regarding Rahul Gandhi's question on the number of Pakistani aircraft shot down by India, Pilot said, "That question should not be seen as doubting the Army's valour. We have full faith in the information provided by the Indian Army and our DMO. We stand with the govt in whatever steps are necessary to stop terror funding and dismantle terrorist infrastructure," Pilot said.

Parliament session will signal unity against terrorism: Sachin Pilot
Senior Congress leader Sachin Pilot on Sunday reiterated the opposition party's demand for convening a special session of Parliament, which he said would send a message of unity in India's fight against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism to the world. He also demanded the government's "clarification" on facts regarding the Pahalgam terror attack, Operation Sindoor, and the "ceasefire" announcement. Pilot was speaking to reporters after visiting the family of Dinesh Mirania, a Raipur-based businessman who was killed by terrorists in Pahalgam on April 22. Addressing the media, he said that though a "ceasefire" has been announced, the government should clarify whether it was assured that Pakistan will not carry out any misadventure in future. "We want the forces responsible for such incidents (Pahalgam attack) to be destroyed forever. A ceasefire has been declared for now, but there should have been credible assurances (to ensure that such incidents do not recur in the future)," Pilot said. He said Pakistan has recently received a significant loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) while the US is talking about trade with Pakistan. "Will the funds received by Pakistan be used once again to attempt such acts of aggression? It is a serious concern," he said, adding that Pakistan's direct role has come to the fore repeatedly in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, Pulwama and now Pahalgam. "Every investigation has revealed direct involvement of Pakistan, its role in sending infiltrators and funding terrorism. So, have any such assurances been received (from Pakistan) that such acts will not be repeated in the future? The government should clarify," he said. Pilot claimed the ceasefire was announced by the US President, and, while terrorism is the main concern, the Kashmir issue was deliberately brought to the front. "Neither the US President, Vice President, nor their foreign minister used the word terrorism even once while discussing this entire matter (India-Pakistan conflict)," the former Rajasthan deputy CM said. He said Pakistan-sponsored terrorism is no longer being discussed, even though the world is aware of it, and suddenly, the issue of Kashmir and calls for mediation are resurfacing. "Under the then Prime Minister Narasimha Rao, both houses of Parliament in 1994 unanimously passed a resolution stating that Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) is an integral part of India and that Pakistan must vacate it. A special session should be convened again to reaffirm that resolution," he said. Pilot stressed the need to effectively counter the misinformation and false propaganda being peddled by Pakistan. "For the last 25 to 30 years, India has been compared with China (in terms of growth and stature). But now, efforts are being made to revert to comparing India with Pakistan, which is not good," he said. Pilot said a unified voice would be raised against terrorism and Pakistan-sponsored terrorism if a special session of Parliament is convened, which will send a message of India's unity against terrorism to the world. He raised concerns over Pakistan reportedly using Chinese-made military equipment against India. "We now say that any act of terror will be seen as an act of war, but has Pakistan given an assurance that it will not be involved in such incidents in the future? The US is trying to claim credit for brokering the ceasefire, but did it assure India? These are critical questions that must be answered. "The government should present its side openly on these issues. There are neither differences nor politics in it," he said. Hailing the armed forces for Operation Sindoor, Pilot said they do not belong to any leader, party or ideology. "We fully honour and support the statements of the Indian army over Operation Sindoor. Armed forces belong to 140 crore people of this country. I especially thank even their family members for sending their sons and daughters to protect the nation," he said. Pilot will take part in the Congress' 'Samvidhan Bachao' (Save Constitution) rally in Janjgir-Champa district on Monday.

"Valour and courage shown by army is unmatched": Sachin Pilot on Op Sindoor
Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], May 18 (ANI): Congress leader Sachin Pilot on Sunday said that the Pahalgam terror attack was an attack on the entire country, and praised the Indian Army for its strong response through Operation Sindoor. He said such terrorist forces should be wiped out completely and called for unity against terrorism. Speaking to the mediapersons, Congress leader Sachin Pilot said, 'The terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22 was an attack on India, and the army has taken action to give a befitting reply to it. Operation Sindoor is still going on, but we want that the forces that carry out such incidents in the future should be destroyed forever. The valour and courage shown by the army is unmatched. The whole world and the country should unite against terrorism.' Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7, targeting terror bases in Pakistan in retaliation to the deadly Pahalgam terror attack on April 22. The operation targeted terror infrastructure deep inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, eliminating terrorists linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen. In a swift and decisive retaliation, Indian forces eliminated over 100 terrorists across the border in Pakistan. Though Pakistan launched a counteroffensive, India responded with force, leading to a ceasefire and reasserting its defence posture. Meanwhile, BJP launched 'Tiranga Yatra' on May 13, which will continue till May 23. The yatra aims to honour the valour of Indian soldiers and inform citizens about Operation Sindoor's success. The campaign kicked off in Delhi on May 13 with a symbolic march featuring a 108-foot-tall national flag. Senior leaders, including Sambit Patra, Vinod Tawde, and Tarun Chugh, were tasked with coordinating the campaign across regions. The party will hold press conferences nationwide and will engage social media influencers to amplify the campaign's message digitally and reach younger audiences. (ANI)
