Detroit rapper Sada Baby tells his side of story about drug arrest on podcast
Detroit rapper Sada Baby, who appeared in court on a drug charge this week, gave his side of the story Friday, saying "it was Percocets, 10 of 'em." Sada Baby, whose real name is Casada Sorrell, was a guest on the podcast "Politely Raw with Pacman Jones" on BetOnline in a segment that was just over five minutes long and included conversation about his Macomb County Jail mugshot, with Sorrell saying he made a face because "I wanted to go viral. It went viral." Sorrell, 32, is charged with controlled substance possession (narcotic/cocaine) less than 25 grams, a felony, according to online court records in 41A District Court in Sterling Heights. He was arrested April 9 on the drug charge warrant. When the allegations and incident were summarized on the podcast, Sorrell said: "Cap. It was Percocets. 10 of 'em." Then, he said: "Super cap. Look, look ... I got pulled over for a warrant for driving without a license while I was driving with a license." Cap means lie in slang. A shorter version of Sorrell's appearance on the podcast was posted on Jones' Instagram, including Sorrell's message to fans who are supporting him on social media. "I appreciate everybody, you know, anybody who got a brain can pay attention to me getting targeted for me livin' where I live at, for me doin' what I'm doin'," Sorrell said during the show hosted by the former NFL player. "A lot of street officers are too lazy to just type my name into Google and see what I actually am, to think that I would be selling dope, to live in a house as big as I live in as far as I live outside of the city. You know what I'm sayin'? "So, I know God got me, and I know, my family know, Pac know, I ain't never played with my nose in my life. And we know, we know what people look like and what they do when they do play with their nose. "I ain't never had no cocaine on me, never had no heroin on me. No, none of that. It was some Percs. ... They just mad that my lawyer is a great lawyer, and he got it dropped down to a $200 fine, so they put an entry warrant in on me. I can't do nothin' about it. I'm glad I got it over with. We gonna go to court, and I'm gonna keep prayin', and we gonna win again." Sterling Heights Police Capt. Mario Bastianelli indicated in an email April 9 that the drug charge was connected to a stop in January. According to a news release from January, a Sterling Heights police officer was traveling on Mound near 18 Mile when he saw a pickup truck with tinted windows about 4 a.m. Jan. 9. Upon checking the license plate, the released indicated, the registered owner — Sorrell — was found to have a warrant for his arrest out of Sterling Heights for driving while unlicensed. It indicated that possible illegal contraband was openly seen inside the vehicle, but the release did not indicate what type of possible illegal contraband was found. Sorrell pleaded guilty in March to the charge of failure to display a valid license, a misdemeanor, in 41A District Court in Sterling Heights, according to online court records. They indicate the original misdemeanor charge of driving while unlicensed for three years, first offense, was in 2023 and was dismissed as Sorrell pleaded to the other charge. He paid a $200 fine, according to court records. In regard to the drug charge, Sorrell pleaded not guilty and a $5,000 personal bond was set. His next court date is April 21. Sada Baby broke into Detroit's rap scene in the late 2010s with successful singles like "Aktivated" and "Pressin" with King Von, reports Rolling Stone magazine. Sada Baby Arrested on Drug Charges in Michigan
Sada Baby was arrested on drug possession charges in Michigan on Tuesday (April 8). According to Macomb County Sheriff's Office records, Sada (real name Casada Sorrell) was booked in Macomb County Jail by the Sterling Heights Police Department. Per The Detroit News, Sada Baby's arrest stemmed from a traffic stop in January. Last week, Sterling Heights court issued a warrant for narcotics possession of less than 25 grams tied to the Jan. 9 traffic stop. Officers allegedly searched Sada Baby's vehicle and discovered a possible illegal substance. The findings were sent away for testing and came back positive for narcotics, per Rolling Stone. Sada Baby pleaded guilty in February to failure to display a driver's license. He paid a $200 fine and the charge was dismissed. He is yet to be arraigned and a court date hasn't been assigned as the 'Whole Lotta Choppas' rapper remains behind bars. When reports of Sada Baby's arrest emerged, the rapper's wide-eyed mug shot quickly went viral on social media. 'This n—a gon troll till the very end,' one person wrote to X. Another said: 'This picture is telling me everything I need to know im weak af lmfaooo.' Rapper Sada Baby arrested after traffic stop uncovers narcotics and outstanding warrant
ALBAWABA - Rapper Sada Baby arrested after traffic stop leads to drug and license-related charges. In January, Sada Baby, whose actual name is Casada Sorrell, was pulled over by the police in Sterling Heights due to an issue with the window tint on his vehicle. However, during that traffic stop, the police discovered that he was wanted for several offenses. Background information: On January 9, at approximately four o'clock in the morning, police officers noticed a Dodge Ram with tinted windows on Mound near 18 Mile. Upon examining the license plate, the police discovered that the registered driver had an outstanding warrant. According to the documents presented with the court, Sorrell was charged with driving without a license for a period of three years in June of 2023, and a request for a warrant was submitted in October of that same year. In accordance with the documents filed with the court, Sorrell entered a guilty plea to the charge of failing to display a valid license one month ago and was subsequently forced to pay fines. What comes next: As of the morning of Wednesday, Sorrell is currently being held in the Macomb County Jail. The date of the arraignment for the new felony charge is unknown.
