Oman fall to Kuwait, face Saudi Arabia today
MUSCAT: The Oman national U-16 basketball team suffered its second consecutive defeat in the Gulf regional qualifiers for the U-16 Asian Championship, this time losing to Kuwait with a score of 55–64. The match was held at the Bahrain Basketball Association Hall in Umm Al Hassam, Manama, as part of the tournament running until July 12.
The game witnessed clear shifts in momentum between quarters. In the first quarter, Kuwait took control early, applying pressure defense and capitalising on fast breaks, finishing the period with a dominant 24–10 lead. Oman's defense struggled to cope with Kuwait's aggressive start.

In the second quarter, Oman came back with a completely different approach. Tactical changes made by the coach paid off, as the players executed quick transitions and precise passes, coupled with strong offensive and defensive rebounds. Oman managed to outscore Kuwait 20-7, narrowing the gap to just one point at halftime, with the score standing at 30-31.
However, the third quarter marked another decline for Oman. Individual errors, lapses in defense, and hurried offensive plays allowed Kuwait to regain control. Showing superior physical and mental readiness, Kuwait dominated the quarter 23-9, widening the margin and dealing a blow to Oman's morale.
