Charley Crockett's Second Album of the Year Is Arriving Soon: ‘I Don't Gamble. I Just Risk It All'

The prolific Charley Crockett will release his second album of 2025 when he issues Dollar a Day on Aug. 8 via Island Records. In an Instagram post on Monday (June 30), Crockett announced the forthcoming project by sharing a photo of himself holding a gun while taking a phone call at a desk, with his boots posted on the desk while piles of papers and half a dozen gold bars sit on the desk in front of him. I just risk it all,' he captioned the photo. He reunites with co-producer Shooter Jennings on the album, which marks the second installment of Crockett's The Sagebrush Trilogy, and follows just five months after the initial project, Lonesome Drifter. 'With Shooter, I've never felt more like myself in the studio,' Crockett said in a statement. 'I don't feel judged. At all. It's truly a partnership. Hell, I'd say he's my best friend, and you can't aspire to greatness without that kind of trust. With Lonesome Drifter, it felt like we opened the portal. With Dollar a Day, we stepped through and came out the other side.' When he released Lonesome Drifter earlier this year, Crockett told Billboard of his penchant for releasing songs at a rapid-fire pace, 'One of the reasons I record so often is because I'm really good at starting songs, but I'm not always great at finishing them, if I don't have pressure. I need a bunch of pressure and not a lot of time, so booking studio sessions is how I finish songs.' Like Lonesome Drifter, Dollar a Day was recorded at Sunset Sound Studio 3 in Hollywood, Calif. Crockett will preview the new, 15-song album with the lead single, 'Crucified Son,' which releases July 3. He's also on the road with headlining shows that saw the singer-songwriter return to Colorado's Red Rocks. In August, he'll join Leon Bridges on The Crooner & The Cowboy Tour, which kicks off in Milwaukee.
