India is peace-loving nation committed to 'no-first-use' nuclear doctrine despite terror threats: Vikramjit Singh Sahney

Cairo [Egypt], June 4 (ANI): AAP MP Vikramjit Singh Sahney, a member of the all-party delegation led by NCP-SCP MP Supriya Sule, on Wednesday said that India has effectively conveyed to the global community that it is a peace-loving nation committed to a 'no first use' nuclear doctrine, despite facing repeated provocations through cross-border terrorism. Speaking to ANI, Sahney said, 'We have been able to drive the message home that India is a peace-loving nation, and has a policy of no first use of nuclear despite being a nuclear power. Over the last couple of years, India has been driven against the wall by continuous cross-border all the countries, each one of them agreed that giving terrorist activity or cross-border terrorism a colour of religion is highly condemnable... There will be tremendous political pressure on Pakistan now because each country is suffering from terrorism in some form or another,' Sahney added. Sahney also noted that India had shared clear proof of Pakistan's hand in the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam. 'Some people asked us for evidence (for Pakistan's involvement in the Pahalgam attack). We told them how a company from our neighbouring country approached a US company for satellite images (of Pahalgam), and how their Army Chief had invoked religion,' he told ANI. Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) MP Supriya Sule, who is leading the all-party delegation to Egypt, said that the group held a constructive meeting with Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty. He reassured them that India and Egypt must work together in peace, trade, and culture, as the two nations are uniquely placed. While interacting with local leaders, opinion makers, and think tanks in Cairo, Sule expressed gratitude to Egyptian leadership for standing firmly with India during the challenging and painful time and expressed his commitment to peace. He said that India launched Operation Sindoor under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She said that PM Modi sent seven groups of parliamentary delegations to several nations. On Tuesday, Supriya Sule met Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty in the New Administrative Capital. After the meeting concluded, Badr Abdelatty condemned the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 civilians and said that such attacks can't be tolerated. Labelling the relationship between India and Egypt as 'historic,' Abdelatty added that Egypt and India need to enhance their economic relationship to match the excellent political relationship between the two countries and their leaders.'It was a great pleasure to receive the Parliamentary delegation from relationship is historic. But, we need to enhance further our trade investment and economic relationship to match the excellent political relationship between the two countries and their position is very clear: we condemn, in the harshest words, the terrorist attack in Kashmir. We cannot tolerate any attacks on civilians,' the Egyptian minister told ANI. The delegation, led by Supriya Sule, includes Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Vikramjeet Singh Sahney, Manish Tewari, Anurag Singh Thakur, Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu, Anand Sharma, V Muraleedharan and Syed Akbaruddin. The Supriya Sule-led parliamentary delegation also paid a floral tribute to Indian soldiers at the Heliopolis War Memorial, who laid their lives in World War I and World War II. The delegation aims to brief international partners on India's response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and its broader fight against cross-border terrorism while engaging with leaders in key countries. India has zero tolerance against malicious terrorist activity: All-party delegation member Vikramjeet Singh

New Delhi [India], May 24 (ANI): Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Vikramjeet Singh Sahney, part of an all-party delegation highlighting India's fight against terrorism, on Saturday reiterated India's zero-tolerance policy towards malicious terrorist activities, emphasising the need to expose the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack on the international stage. Speaking ahead of his departure for the global outreach program, Sahney condemned Pakistan's attempts to give the attack a religious colour and affirmed India's commitment to peace while defending its right to retaliate against terrorism. 'There was a horrifying and heart-wrenching terrorist attack in Pahalgam, where innocent people who were tourists were targeted by cross-border terrorism. So it is very important to expose it on the global platform. And we think that all this is governed by the Army Chief, as 10 days before, he proposed the two-nation theory,' the AAP MP said. 'India wants peace. India is not provocative. India remained calm even further. This is the policy of our Prime Minister and the Government. But if this malicious terrorist activity does not stop, then India has zero tolerance for this... India will not tolerate it. And any kind of nuclear fear will not affect India,' he added. He asserted that terrorists have no religion and strongly condemned Pakistan for giving a religious colour to the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, where 26 tourists lost their lives including a Nepali citizen. 'The neighbouring country is trying to give the attack a religious colour. India understands that terrorists have no religion. So it is factually incorrect to provide it with a veil of any religion because India is a democratic country; all the minorities live here in a very peaceful co-existence... Giving it a religious colour is their malefide intent,' Sanhey stated, criticising Pakistan's false narrative. Sahney cited historical evidence, noting, 'It was proved after 26/11 where Kasab belonged; after that, there was Pathankot, followed by Pahalgam.' He further highlighted that the Indian Army did not targeted any civilians, nine terror hubs in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir were targeted during Operation Sindoor by India. He clarified India's military response, stating, 'The second thing is to tell the world that the Indian Army did not target any civilians and only terrorist camps in Bhawalpur and other places were targeted. Whereas our neighbouring country operated drones at night in all cities of Jammu and Kashmir. We have to clear this kind of narrative.' Sahney is part of one of the seven all-party delegations that will project India's national consensus and resolute approach to combating terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, and also to convey to the world India's strong message of zero tolerance for terrorism. Sahney's delegation is led by NCP (SCP) MP Supriya Sule and consists of BJP MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Anurag Singh Thakur, Congress MP Manish Tewari, TDP MP Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu, Congress's Anand Sharma and BJP's Muraleedharan. Ambassador Syed Akbaruddin will also accompany them. (ANI)

MP Sahney announces Rs 1cr to upgrade drug rehab centres in Punjab

1 2 Chandigarh: Member of Parliament (MP) Vikramjit Singh Sahney has announced Rs 1 crore for the upgradation of all drug rehab centres in Punjab. The Punjab govt has partnered with the Sun Foundation to introduce skill development programmes at the 19 govt-run drug rehabilitation centres across the state. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at Punjab Bhawan in the presence of health and family welfare minister Dr Balbir Singh and Vikramjit Singh Sahney, chairman of the Sun Foundation. Additionally, the foundation will provide manpower and cover the maintenance costs of the skill development facilities. Health minister Dr Balbir Singh hailed the initiative as a vital component of the state's ongoing " Yudh Nasheyan Virudh " (War Against Drugs) campaign and expressed his gratitude to MP Sahney for his commitment to a drug-free Punjab . Dr Singh stressed the need to address the concerning relapse rate of 80–90% by integrating skill development and recreational activities into the rehabilitation process. He commended the govt's progressive approach of decriminalising drug users and recognising them as patients in need of care and support. Outlining the state's strategy, Dr Singh said efforts were underway to shift intravenous drug users to safer alternatives such as tablets and liquid methadone in order to curb the spread of HIV and Hepatitis C. "My vision is to transform drug addicts into entrepreneurs through targeted skill development," he said, expressing hope for a "positive domino effect" where rehabilitated individuals become productive members of society. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Google Brain Co-Founder Andrew Ng, Recommends: Read These 5 Books And Turn Your Life Around Blinkist: Andrew Ng's Reading List Undo MP Sahney addressed the mischaracterisation of Punjab as uniquely drug-afflicted, pointing out that the crisis extends to several Indian states, including Maharashtra and Gujarat. Indian Oil Corporation to award green hydrogen tender by mid-May

Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) will award the tender for India's biggest green hydrogen plant with up to 10 kilo tonnes per annum capacity by mid-May, Chairperson Arvinder Singh Sahney said on Wednesday. With the tender having been reissued twice so far, the company has 'taken all precautions' for the tender process to be successful this time, Sahney said at a briefing. The state-owned oil marketing company has relaunched the tender — calling to create the plant at its Panipat Refinery and Petrochemicals complex on a build-own-operate-transfer basis — twice so far. IOCL plans to set up green hydrogen units at all of its refineries as part of a ₹2.4 trillion green transition plan to achieve net zero carbon emission status by 2046. The company cancelled its initial tender back in February 2024 after it led to bidders approaching the Delhi High Court. Prospective bidders had alleged a conflict of interest on IOCL's part in the last tender. This was owing to GH4India Pvt Ltd, IOCL's joint venture with infrastructure and engineering major Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and renewable energy company ReNew, also bidding for the tender. An industry body of green hydrogen producers, the Independent Green Hydrogen Producers Association, had also moved the Delhi High Court. Subsequently, a reworked tender was cancelled in August after it reportedly received only two bids — GH4India and Noida-based Neometrix Engineering. According to the tender terms, the winning bidder was required to commence hydrogen gas delivery within 30 months of the project's award. The project involved a 75 MW electrolyser capacity to generate 300 MW of clean energy, with an overall capital expenditure estimated at $400 million. The tender was reissued a third time in September 2024.
