Over 40 places plan to hold a Lent fish fry in Louisville. Here's where to go in 2025.
It's fried fish season!
Lent, which this year begins on March 5, is a 40-day period of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving that leads up to Easter. In the Catholic tradition, people abstain from eating meat during Lent, particularly on Fridays, to honor Jesus' sacrifice on the cross and practice a form of penance by giving up something considered a luxury or indulgence.
In Louisville, that means fish fry Fridays, with dine-in, carryout, and drive-thru available at a majority of churches for the 40-day duration of Lent, which concludes the weekend of Easter, celebrated this year on Sunday, April 20.
