Indian woman's ‘most expensive' lunch at Eiffel Tower also turns out to be her worst. Watch
An Indian woman was left disappointed after an expensive lunch in Paris did not meet her expectations. Ishwarya shared an Instagram review of her 'most expensive' lunch in the city of lights, saying the bread was too hard to eat and the starter arrived cold. An Indian woman says she was left disappointed by her lunch at a famous Paris restaurant. (YouTube/@MakeTravelEasy_kadhusaks) Ishwarya is one half of the travel vlogger couple behind the 'Make Travel Easy' account. She and her husband Sakthi are based in the UK. 'Our channel is dedicated to inspiring and guiding Tamil-speaking audiences to travel independently, budget effectively, and explore the world with confidence,' they say. Expensive lunch in Paris In videos shared on YouTube and Instagram, Ishwarya said she visited the Eiffel Tower's second-floor restaurant for lunch but the food left her disappointed. She was not alone in complaining about the food – Ishwarya was seated next to an 82-year-old woman from New Zealand who had similar complaints. Both of them found the bread too hard to eat. Ishwarya asked the server if they had any soft bread instead, but was told no. She also had a problem with the starter, which was served cold. The verdict on the dishes The Indian woman rated the starter a 2 out of 10. The main dish fared slightly better, getting a 7 out of 10 from her. It was, however, the dessert that really disappointed it. Finding it overwhelmingly creamy, Ishwarya rated the dessert a 1 out of 10. 'I will never go here again,' she wrote on Instagram. 'The most expensive lunch i had turned out like this'. On YouTube, she explained that the elderly woman seated next to her could not eat much. 'She was struggling, so I helped her go to a nearby supermarket to get some biscuits and then escorted her back to her hotel because she was unable to go by herself,' said the Indian traveller. About the restaurant Le Jules Verne, a two-Michelin-starred restaurant, is located on the second floor of the Eiffel Tower. The restaurant receives generally positive reviews and has a 4.2 star rating on Tripadvisor and 4.5 stars on Google. The Michelin Guide praises the Paris restaurant for its ability 'deliver delicate, perfectly judged dishes boasting flavour combinations that are always on point.' Reviews on social media praise the restaurant for its stunning views and exceptional service, besides the food. On Google, for example, one visitor wrote: 'The food was absolutely fantastic with unique flavors. The service was top notch and we were treated like royalty.' Social media weighs in While Ishwarya spoke about her experience, saying the meal did not live up to her expectations, some social media users accused her of ignorance about French cuisine. 'You don't go to such a fine restaurant if you're not used to the French cuisine!' wrote one Instagram user. 'European breads are supposed to be all breads are are so many different types of breads..' another pointed out. 'It's supposed to dip and eat in soup so it's usually hard,' a third user explained, while a fourth wrote, 'Baguette is supposed to be hard.'

Tamil Nadu teen ‘shot at by police' after attacking Dalit man with machete amid caste tensions
A 17-year-old boy from a dominant caste community was allegedly shot and injured by police in Tamil Nadu's Tirunelveli district early Tuesday morning, following a violent caste altercation in the village of Pappakudi. The teenager, wielding a machete, had allegedly attacked a Dalit youth and later turned on the police officers who arrived to intervene. The incident, which occurred around 1.30 am, allegedly unfolded with an attempted machete assault on Sakthi, a 22-year-old Dalit youth from Rastha near Pappakudi. According to a senior police officer who visited the village on Tuesday morning, the attacker and his associate—both minors from the Thevar community, categorised as Most Backward Class (MBC)—were already facing criminal cases. The motive for the assault is believed to be rooted in simmering caste tensions between local groups. As the incident escalated, the Pappakudi police, led by Sub-Inspector Murugan, responded to an emergency call and reached the scene. However, rather than fleeing, the teenagers reportedly turned their machetes toward the officers. In a chilling turn of events, the armed teens allegedly chased the officers through the village and injured one. According to police, one officer, Sub-Inspector Murugan, sought shelter in a nearby house. As the residents locked the door behind him, the attackers allegedly struck the door repeatedly with their weapons. 'Fearing for his life, the officer opened fire to disperse the assailants,' the officer told The Indian Express. 'Two rounds were fired. One bullet struck the attacker's hand, but did not penetrate deeply.' The injured teen and the Dalit victim were rushed to Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital. The police officer who sustained injuries is undergoing treatment. All three remain hospitalised. According to police inquiry, there was a tense atmosphere in Pappakudi prior to the incident, with a minor scuffle earlier that night between members of two caste groups. While most dispersed upon seeing the police, the two teens, belonging to the politically influential community —armed and apparently seeking revenge—allegedly stayed back and escalated the situation. The officer said the swift decision to open fire was made to prevent further violence. 'The boy chased the police with a sickle. We tried to manage the situation, but when the officers were also attacked, they were forced to act in self-defense,' he said. Police have launched a manhunt for the second teen who fled the scene. A case has been registered against both minors for attempted murder and assault on public servants.

A 17-year-old teen was shot at and injured, by police at Paappaakudi in Tirunelveli, early on Tuesday (July 29, 2025), after he and his associate attacked a Dalit youth with a machete and attempted to attack the police personnel who tried to arrest them. According to police, two 17-year-old boys from Paappaakudi in the district, both belonging to most backward community and already facing a few cases, attacked Sakthi, 22, of Rastha near Paappakudi, with a machete around 1.30 a.m. He was injured in the attack. Paappaakudi police, led by Sub-Inspector Murugan, rushed to the spot. As the boys, carrying machetes, chased the police also, they scurried away for safety. Mr. Murugan entered a house nearby. The dwellers of the house locked the main door once the police officer entered. 'The armed teens who followed Mr. Murugan landed multiple blows on the door with machetes. However, the Sub-Inspector of Police opened fire at one of the attackers, who was injured in the hip. On seeing his associate fall, the other fled the spot,' police said. The injured has been admitted to the Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital. A few villagers said the problem started after a minor scuffle broke-out between two caste groups who left the spot after the police entered the village. 'However, the two teens, carrying arms, tried to attack the police, which led to the firing,' the villagers said. The Paappaakudi police are on the hunt to nab the teen who escaped.
