BCA postpones scouting event

Even as India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire on Saturday that was later violated by Pakistan, Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) decided to postpone the final phase of the statewide bowlers' scouting programme scheduled for May 11 and 12 until further notice. The new dates for the final programme will be announced later. "Due to the current international situation and heightened security concerns in the country, the final phase of the programme scheduled for May 11 and 12 has been postponed until further notice. This decision was made prioritizing the safety of players, officials, and all stakeholders," BCA said in a statement issued on Saturday evening."The decision was unanimously made in an emergency meeting chaired by BCA president Rakesh Tiwari, taking into account reports and advice provided by security agencies. BCA appeals to participants, selectors, technical staff, and spectators to accept this temporary decision in a spirit of cooperation. As soon as conditions normalize, new dates for the postponed program will be announced on the official website and through other channels," the statement added. Meanwhile, the 'Bowler Hunt', originally scheduled for May 9-12, successfully conducted the district-wise trials on Friday and Saturday at Moin-ul Haq Stadium in Patna, where thousands of youngsters from across the state showcased their talent. The campaign, organised to identify fast and spin bowling talents across Bihar, have received an overwhelming response with a total of 3993 applicants submitting their candidature. Former India internationals Salil Ankola and Venkatapathy Raju are to oversee the final selection process.
