Missing girl, 9, who vanished in swimsuit at popular UK pier found after urgent police appeal
A MISSING girl, 9, who vanished at a popular UK pier has been found after police issued an urgent appeal. Officers have confirmed that Salimatou, aged 9, has been found after she went missing on Bournemouth beach earlier today. The desperate search began at around 12:30pm after the girl vanished wearing a black and pink floral swimsuit. Police have now provided an update confirming Salimatou's safety and expressed their thanks to everyone who shared their appeal for help. In a statement issued by the Police, they said: "Officers searching for a missing child in Bournemouth are pleased to confirm she has been found. "Salimatou, aged 9, was last seen in the area of Bournemouth pier at around 12.30pm on Saturday 16 August 2025. "Following enquiries and searches by officers, she has now been found. "We would like to thank everyone who shared our appeal."

Bournemouth air and sea search for missing nine-year-old girl
Lifeboats and a coastguard helicopter are searching for a nine-year-old girl who has gone missing in a seaside was last seen in the area of Bournemouth Pier at around 12:30 BST, Dorset Police is described by officers as black, with braided hair, and was last seen wearing a black and pink floral Coastguard said it was informed at about 13:50 and deployed a search and rescue helicopter, coastguard rescue teams and RNLI lifeboats from Mudeford, Poole and Swanage. Insp Robin Morgan said: "We are growing concerned for Salimatou's welfare and are carrying out searches to try and locate her."I would urge anyone who has seen Salimatou, or a child matching the description given, to please get in touch." COPS are urgently appealing for help in finding a nine-year-old girl who's gone missing. Salimatou was last seen near Bournemouth pier at around 12.30pm today. She is described as black with braided hair, and was last seen wearing a black and pink floral swimsuit. Inspector Robin Morgan, of Dorset Police, said: "We are growing concerned for Salimatou's welfare and are carrying out searches to try and locate her. "I would urge anyone who has seen Salimatou's or a child matching the description given, to please get in touch. "If you have any current sightings of Salimatou, please call 999 immediately." Anyone with information or knowledge as to Salimatou's whereabouts is asked to contact Dorset Police at or call 101, quoting occurrence number 55250121793.
