Gavin said: 'If that had been my child eating these, God only knows what would have happened. 'They are young, so when there are crisps going around I always share with them. It was lucky I was at the office.' The tech sales adviser, of Saffron Walden, Essex, feared he could have swallowed the scalding powder and ruined his voice, saying: 'Had that gone to my throat, I probably wouldn't be able to talk now. 'I'm a tech sales adviser, I need my voice. But when it hit my mouth, I pushed it to one side of my cheek, where it burned. It was so intense. 'I had to instantly rush to the nearest sink in the bathroom.' He said his gum turned white and claims he still has a scar in his mouth three months later. KP Snacks, which makes the retro brand, offered him £15 in vouchers after admitting the flavour was 'quite powerful'. But Gavin claims they are virtually worthless, as only a few stores can accept them, 'adding insult to injury'. KP said: 'We know our Salt & Vinegar Discos crisps pack a punch — that bold flavour is exactly why fans love them. We tested supermarket ready salted crisps 'Customer satisfaction and safety are paramount. We'll continue to work with the customer to resolve the matter.'
