Six fire crews tackle property blaze on Alum Rock Road as locals warned 'avoid area'
An 'avoid area' warning was issued following a property blaze in Saltley.
West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS) sent six crews to the incident on Alum Rock Road at around 9pm yesterday evening (Friday, July 18).
A hydraulic platform was also in use at the fire, a spokesperson for WMFS said.
They shared news of the incident on X at 9.39pm.

A statement said: "We have 6 crews and a hydraulic platform in attendance at an incident on Alum Rock Road, Saltley involving a property fire.
"Please avoid the area."
An update was then posted at 11.40pm with a continued plea to avoid the area.
They added that the road had been closed as emergency personnel worked at the scene.
The statement on X said: "Please be aware that due to an ongoing incident involving a property fire, the Alum Rock Road, Saltley has been closed until further notice.
"Please avoid this area."
WMFS are no longer at the scene, but will be going out shortly to check that the blaze remains extinguished, a spokesperson for fire control told BirminghamLive.
They confirmed that ambulance crews were at the scene but details of any injuries have not yet been shared.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police confirmed that the road has now reopened.
