Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be inaugurating 184 newly constructed flats at Baba Kharak Singh Marg today at 11:00 AM. Let's find out key details about the accommodation at prime location in Delhi-NCR. Members of Parliament are eligible to apply for the newly constructed Type-VII Multi-Storey Flats. 'On this occasion, Prime Minister will plant a Sindoor sapling at the residential premise. He will also interact with shramjeevis on this occasion,' the press release dated August 10 states. Standing tall with 4 towers, featuring 25 storeys in each building, these flats are designed to be self-sufficient especially for the lawmakers who crave for bungalows in Lutyens' Delhi. Each flat boasts a carpet area of around 5,000 square feet and is equipped with a full range of modern amenities. Reportedly made on a budget of ₹ 550 crore, the project built by Sam India Infrastructure also includes a community centre. Apartments bigger than Type-VIII bungalows comprise 5 bedrooms with offices and two rooms for helpers, according to Times of India report. From incorporation of green technology to adherence to GRIHA 3-star rating standards, the construction is earthquake-resistant. With close proximity to the Parliament House Complex, this residential complex is environmentally sustainable as it includes energy conservation, renewable energy generation and effective waste management features. Made up of RCC, it is an example of advanced construction technology featuring monolithic concrete with aluminium shuttering. The inauguration ceremany will be attended by Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla; Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs and Power Manohar Lal; Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju; Chairperson of Lok Sabha House Committee Dr Mahesh Sharma; and Members of Parliament, among others.

PM Modi to inaugurate high-rise residential complex for MPs on August 11

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate a 27-storey apartment complex for members of parliament on Baba Kharak Singh Marg in Delhi on August 11, officials said. The complex has 184 flats, each with a carpet area of 5,000 sq ft, surpassing even the largest Type-VIII bungalows. (Representative Image) The complex has 184 flats, each with a carpet area of 5,000 sq ft, surpassing even the largest Type-VIII bungalows. Each flat will have five bedrooms, dedicated office spaces for MPs and their assistants, and two additional rooms for support staff. Amenities will include high-speed elevators, power backup, modern firefighting systems, integrated structural safety features, and an energy-efficient green building design. Other common amenities will include a two-level underground parking facility for 500 vehicles, a community centre, and shops to cater to daily requirements within the premises. The building on Baba Kharak Singh Marg came up in 30 months. Sam India Infrastructure, which was contracted to build the apartments, said that the construction was carried out using reinforced cement concrete and aluminium shuttering technology, replacing traditional brick construction. This approach reduced the per-floor construction cycle from 30–35 days to just 10–12 days. The project cost was approximately ₹550 crore and buildings are expected to have a shelf life of 100 years. This project aligns with the CPWD's drive to replace the erstwhile low-rise, low-density bungalow housing for MPs with similar high-rise buildings on North and South Avenue. PM Modi had inaugurated those buildings in 2019. Similar high-rise construction has replaced low-rise, low-density government employee housing in GPRA (General Pool Residential Accommodation) colonies.

Delhi's residential complex for MPs to be inaugurated next week

NEW DELHI: In a move that will meet to some extent the demand for bungalows in Lutyens' Delhi, PM Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate a complex with 184 large flats for MPs on Baba Kharak Singh Marg next week. There is high demand for these flats among the lawmakers, sources said. The new complex has four towers (25-storey each with two levels of basement) and was completed in two years. Each flat, with a carpet area of around 5,000 sq feet, has five bedrooms, offices for the MP and their PA, and two rooms for helpers. Each room has an attached toilet. 'These flats have morespace than the Type-VIII bungalows which comprise the top category,' said a source. Officials said Sam India Infrastructure, which had bagged the project, has not used bricks in the structures, employing RCC and aluminium stuttering for faster construction. 'While the traditional construction method allows the roof to be laid in a period of 30-35 days, through this method, it can be done every 10-12 days. So, the construction period reduces significantly,' said an official. The Central Public Works Department (CPWD) has implemented the project at an expenditure of around Rs 550 crore. The buildings have a shelf life of over 100 years. The two-level basement has the capacity to accommodate 500 cars. A community centre has also been built in the complex for lawmakers to hold social events. There will be four shops at the community centre to meet the requirements of MPs.
