Wrexham AFC: Championship top six and promotion odds
Phil Parkinson's men finished runners-up in League One last term to secure an historic third successive promotion and place in the second tier for the first time in 43 years. Although Wrexham will be making the biggest step-up since beginning their rise from the National League, Betfair have made the Reds 11/2 to clinch promotion in 2025-26. That is joint ninth favourites alongside West Brom. Ipswich are the 5/4 favourites to be promoted back to the Premier League, followed by Southampton (7/4) who host Wrexham on the opening day of the campaign on Saturday August 9. Sheffield United (21/10), Birmingham (23/10), Coventry (7/2), Middlesbrough (7/2), Leicester (4/1) and Norwich (5/1) are shorter odds than Wrexham while Oxford United at 20/1 are the outsiders to win promotion. Wrexham are an even shorter price to seal a top six finish - priced 10th of the 24 clubs in the division. Ipswich (1/3), Southampton (8/15), Sheffield United (4/7) and Birmingham 4/7 are odds-on to finish in the top six and secure at least a play-off spot. They are followed by Coventry (11/10), Leicester 11/8), Middlesbrough (6/4), Norwich (13/8) and West Brom (7/4) who are just ahead of the Reds. Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said: 'The excitement for the upcoming Championship season is building with the new campaign just one month away and Ipswich are the 5/4 favourites to secure promotion and an immediate return to the Premier League, while Southampton are 7/4 and Sheffield United 21/10 to go one better than the previous campaign. 'Elsewhere, Birmingham are odds-on to secure a top six finish, with Coventry 11/10 and Leicester 13/8 as they prepare for life without Ruud van Nistelrooy. "Meanwhile, Wrexham are 5/2 to reach the play-offs, with Stoke, 5/1, and Hull, 13/2 to achieve the same feat.'
