MP board relaxes Apaar ID rule, relief for parents, teachers

Indore: In a major relief for parents and schoolteachers across the state, Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE) decided to relax the mandatory requirement of Apaar ID for Class 9–12 examination applications in 2025–26 academic session. The Apaar ID, a unique identification number for each student, became a source of stress in recent months. To generate it, the names and addresses of students' parents had to match exactly in both Aadhaar and Samagra databases. Even a minor spelling error meant parents spent hours in long queues at Aadhaar centres or visited municipal corporation zones for Samagra corrections. Teachers were also under pressure to meet strict deadlines for collecting data, often diverting attention from academic work. "Parents were spending days just to correct a single digit or letter in records. The relaxation means we can now focus on teaching rather than paperwork," said Ramesh Arya, a govt school teacher from Indore. The order, issued recently, states that Apaar ID will no longer be mandatory while filling exam forms this year. Instead, education department will organise correction camps at cluster and block levels in the coming months. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Villas Prices In Dubai Might Be More Affordable Than You Think Villas In Dubai | Search Ads Get Quote Undo These camps will allow parents to update Aadhaar and Samagra records without the pressure of looming exam deadlines. Sunita Verma, a parent from Rajendra Nagar, welcomed the decision. "We were constantly worried that our children's exam forms might be rejected. Now, we can complete corrections at a relaxed pace and let our children focus on studies." MPBSE officials said the move will ensure that procedural issues do not hinder students' education. "We recognised the challenges being faced and decided to address them proactively," MPBSE spokesperson, Bhupesh Gupta said. The decision is will ease strain on schools and save parents from repeated visits to govt offices. Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI). Keeladi excavations: Kanimozhi urges Centre to release report

Chennai: DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi urged Union govt to release the report on Keeladi excavations, alleging the delay is a deliberate attempt to suppress the state's cultural heritage. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now She brought an urgent notice in Lok Sabha on Wednesday, alleging that the 'deliberate' silence of Union govt on the report submitted by archaeologist Amarnath Ramakrishna was "unacceptable and a disservice to TN's cultural heritage." "Despite scientific validation from internationally accredited labs confirming Keeladi's antiquity, Centre continues to withhold the report," she said, criticising Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) for asking Amarnath to revise the report. She recalled that the excavation was disrupted when Amarnath was abruptly transferred midway through the project. The third phase was later stalled, only to be resumed by state govt in 2018, she said. Kanimozhi added that Amarnath had submitted a comprehensive report on the first two phases to ASI in Jan 2023. However, ASI returned the report requesting revisions for "greater authenticity". She said the report was backed by scientific analysis, including carbon dating from US-based Beta Analytic labs and endorsed by multiple subject experts. Meanwhile, in the Rajya Sabha, DMK MP P Wilson criticised Union govt for alleged discrimination against in allocating central funds. On the final day of his current tenure, Wilson raised concerns about inadequate funding for the state's education sector, particularly under Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, which he said was impacting students. "Union govt should stop showing bias when it comes to funding states such as TN. Students should not be made to suffer due to political differences," Wilson said.

Hours before suicide, Madhya Pradesh cop's final videos: Seniors colluding with mafia, torturing me

Videos recorded by a 51-year-old assistant sub-inspector (ASI) hours before he allegedly committed suicide have rocked the police force in Madhya Pradesh's Datia district and prompted an enquiry. The officer, Pramod Pavan, was posted at the Godan police station and was found hanging inside his official quarters in the district early Tuesday. In a series of videos purportedly recorded hours before his death, ASI Pavan, wearing his uniform, accused senior officers and local mafia members of mental harassment, caste abuse, and criminal collusion. In the clips, Pavan alleged that he had been facing harassment ever since he intercepted a tractor-trolley carrying illegally mined sand, allegedly linked to a local mafia operative. 'Since then, I've been denied even basic permissions. I can't leave the station for Aadhaar or Samagra cards. Caste slurs are routine. I've been threatened with being run over by a tractor,' he claimed in one video. Pavan accused his senior of tormenting him and of shielding illegal sand mining and gambling rackets. The officers named in the video have not responded to the allegations. In another video, Pavan claimed illegal gambling dens are being run openly in the area with the backing of the same officers. Hours after his body was discovered hanging in his official residence, the Godan police station in-charge, Arvind Singh Bhadauria, was removed from his post and attached to police lines pending inquiry. A formal investigation has been initiated under the Deputy Superintendent of Police (AJK) to ensure impartiality. A senior police officer said, 'The ASI was found hanging in his official quarters in the police station premises. A thorough probe is underway. Every video will be reviewed objectively, and the documents he shared will be thoroughly scrutinised. No one will be spared if found guilty.'
