‘Modi ji, where are you?': Kharge slams PM's foreign policy, says 'India surrounded by enemies on all corners'

NEW DELHI: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP-led NDA government, alleging that India's foreign policy under PM Modi is flawed and has led to deteriorating ties with neighbouring countries. Speaking at the 'Samajika Nyaya Samara Bheri' event in Hyderabad, Kharge said, 'His foreign policy is not good, because of which we have enemies from all corners. On one side, there is China and on the other, Pakistan. Today, Nepal is also distancing itself from us. Everybody is moving away from us.' The Congress chief said that despite visiting 42 countries, PM Modi has not visited Manipur, where ethnic violence has led to loss of life. 'He has travelled to 42 countries in the world, but so far he has not visited Manipur, where people are dying,' Kharge said. He accused PM Modi of neglecting domestic issues in favour of international appearances. 'Modi ji, where are you? He is visiting eight countries, but he's not looking towards his country's people. He is not looking at the farmers of this country,' he added. Kharge also alleged that the government under PM Modi has harmed the Indian economy over the last 11 years and undermined the Constitution. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo 'He has ruined the country's economy and destroyed the Constitution,' he said. He further mocked the prime minister, saying, 'If someone gives Modi a cap or a medal he will wear it and go around,' urging that the focus should instead be on the welfare of farmers and the common people. Additionally, in a sharp attack on the RSS and BJP, Kharge referred to recent comments attributed to an RSS functionary suggesting the removal of the words 'secular' and 'socialist' from the Constitution. 'I challenge them – be it him, their BJP, PM Modi or Amit Shah – no one can remove those words,' Kharge said. During his address in Hindi, he said: 'I heard that an RSS leader from Shimoga said that the words 'secular' and 'socialist' should be removed from the Constitution. I challenge all of them – BJP, PM Modi, Amit Shah – no one can do it.' Reading from the BJP's own organisational constitution, Kharge pointed out that the party's own document states allegiance to the principles of socialism, secularism and democracy. 'If you hate secularism and socialism so much, why have you written it in your party's Constitution?' he asked. 'Your own party constitution says the BJP shall bear true faith and allegiance to the Constitution of India and to the principles of socialism, secularism and democracy. Then why are you trying to remove these values now?' Kharge also cited past Indo-Pak conflicts while criticising the current government's posture. He said: 'You talk big about Pakistan. We helped them in the past. Then why did you back away? You say you ended the war between India and Pakistan. You say you calmed things down. Then why are you silent now, Prime Minister? Speak up. There is no need for Trump in India. We are strong, and we are ready to fight – just as Indira Gandhi once split Pakistan and created Bangladesh.' He urged PM Modi to stop misleading the people and to act decisively if the country's interests are at stake. 'If you had to act, you were in power, you could have. Don't mislead the country. Don't confuse the people,' he said.

Bandi accuses Congress of rendering severe injustice to BCs

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar has accused the Congress party of denying Backward Classes (BCs) their rightful share in political and other vital spheres, thereby rendering grave injustice to them. The Congress had never made a BC leader the Prime Minister and Chief Minister during its nearly half a century rule, he charged while speaking to reporters at Marrimadla village in Rajanna Sircilla district on Friday.. Earlier, the Union Minister laid the foundation stones for staff quarters and compound wall of the Ekalavya Model Residential School at an estimated cost of ₹5 crore in Marrimadla. He said, 'What is the rationale behind conducting a meeting christened as 'Samajika Nyaya Samara Bheri' by the Congress in Hyderabad given its dubious distinction of rendering severe injustice to BCs.' The Congress leaders should have named it as 'Samajika Anyaya Samara Bheri', he said. Mr. Sanjay asserted that the BJP has the proven track record of making leaders of BCs and other weaker sections occupy key constitutional posts at the national level and giving weaker sections due share in the Union Cabinet. He alleged that the ruling Congress party is spearheading false propaganda against the BJP to cover up its failure to implement six poll guarantees and 420 promises made in its 2023 Assembly elections manifesto. Both the Congress and the BRS are deliberately trying to blame the Central government over the urea issue, he flayed. He noted that the Centre had allocated 12 lakh metric tonnes of urea as against the requirement of 9 lakh metric tonnes of urea to Telangana in the last season. The Centre is ready to give adequate quantities of urea in the current season, he said, condemning the 'false propaganda' against the Centre over the issue.

Modi's national security policy and foreign policy deceived India: Kharge

Questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi's commitment to national security, AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge said his absence from the all-party meeting on the Pahalgam attack reflected his seriousness. 'While we were speaking for the country's soldiers, Modi was busy campaigning,' he said addressing the 'Samajika Nyaya Samara Bheri,' in Hyderabad on Friday (July 04). Drawing a sharp contrast between past and present leadership, he invoked former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's decisive leadership. 'Indira Gandhi didn't just speak, she acted. She liberated Bangladesh without fear,' Mr. Kharge said, adding, 'Unlike Modi, she didn't apologise to anyone.' The AICC president also faulted the BJP-led Central government's foreign policy and said this had resulted in India creating enemies all around. Apart from China and Pakistan even friendly nations like Nepal are moving away from India, but Mr. Modi is in denial mode everywhere. Mr. Kharge said Mr. Modi is interested in travelling to other countries but not the trouble-hit States like Manipur in our own country. Mr. Modi is more interested in taking medals and caps from others, ignoring the country's woes, he said mocking the Prime Minister's visit to 42 countries so far. The Congress president also accused PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah of 'ruining' the country's economy and destroying the Indian Constitution. He wanted to know why the BJP had included the 'Socialist and Secular' words in the party Constitution when the RSS was demanding for the removal of these words from the Preamble of the Indian Constitution. 'If you have a problem with the word secular, remove it from your party's constitution,' he challenged the BJP. Referring to the promise of depositing ₹15 lakh in every account, Mr. Kharge said everything Mr. Modi says was a lie and the BJP was best at 'fooling the public with false promises.' Praising the Congress party's role in the development of Hyderabad, he reminded the people that several premier Central institutions in Hyderabad, including top research and academic bodies, were established during the previous Congress regimes. 'The BJP should tell the people what Modi has done for Hyderabad. Congress gave at least 25 institutions to the city,' he said.
