It just happens naturally sometimes that you meet some people, and they feel like family. Nikhil Shetty, who I bonded with during my initial years as an actor, is my rakhi brother. He was Shanoo Sharma's rakhi brother and that's how I met him. He's one of the strongest people I know, and he's supported me so much. I lost my father, and he just took on that role so beautifully in my life.' On standing up for each other It just happened very organically. It was the correct thing for me to do for my family. We all stood up for each other. We all had our days and our moments. That's what a family unit does. You stand up for each other when the other person is falling. To date, the only person who truly, even emotionally, protects me from the world is my sister. Nobody can say anything about me in front of Samiksha. She can go up against the world for me. Now, we are just not sisters, we are co-founders of a venture we started. Without defining boundaries, we have figured out each other's boundaries. On a lighter note, the beauty of our relationship is that we fight every five minutes. They might look like fights to the world, but to us, it is a way of communication.

Bhumi Pednekar Launches 'Premium' Water Brand: Here's How Much A Single Bottle Costs

Last Updated: Bhumi Pednekar's company is self-funded and her sister, Samiksha, is her co-founder. Bhumi Pednekar, in partnership with her sister Samiksha Pednekar, has stepped into entrepreneurship with the launch of Backbay, a next‑generation beverage brand poised to redefine conscious hydration in India. Their inaugural offering, Backbay Aqua, is natural mineral water sourced from the pristine Himalayan foothills, celebrated for its purity and enriched with naturally occurring minerals like magnesium, calcium, and potassium. Speaking with CNBC-TV18, Bhumi Pednekar shared, 'It is our own facility in Himachal. We have put up our own plant and we are very proud of it. And, our workforce is led by women because that's just the kind of value system we wanted to inculcate within our brand. Our capacity is 45,000 boxes a day. We have a large capacity." Stepping away from traditional PET and glass bottles, Backbay Aqua embraces eco‑friendly packaging. The water is contained in lightweight, fully recyclable paperboard cartons. 'Our packaging is specifically called Gable Top Paper packaging. We have also gone a step further, and our cap is actually a bio cap," she said and added that they are the only ones in India using this packaging. Price Of Bhumi Pednekar's Water Bhumi and Samiksha mentioned that they plan to expand beyond water. Speaking to Business Today, Samiksha shared, 'We also have sparkling water in the line with three flavours: Lichi, Peach and Lime." These products are currently under development and will be launched soon. Bhumi shared, 'We have 2 SKUs, which are 500 ml and 750 ml and as far as pricing is concerned, we have priced it right in the middle of the very expensive plastic variant and the least expensive glass variant. The plastic is up to Rs 90, and the glass goes up to Rs 600. My 500 ml is at Rs 150 and my 750ml is at Rs 200. It is premium water, but we wanted to keep the pricing as such that we wanted it to be accessible to people." Bhumi shared, 'We are Himalayan premium water. My water is full of minerals and electrolytes that are naturally occurring. We want to hit the Rs 100 crore mark in the next four years. And 15 years down the line, we want to be in everybody's home. Our water is packed at source. It is untouched by human hands." She added, 'Today, Indian customers are ready to pay that money for energy drinks, so here we are giving you a product that is something as essential and basic as water, and it is good water, water that will give you the kind of hydration it is supposed to give." She said she is targeting consumers who want clean water in schools, colleges, corporate offices, theatres, airports, and hotels, among others. She said, 'Every time I see a child drink water from a plastic bottle, I just want to pull that bottle and tell him, 'Don't do that'. Of course, when it is an absolute necessity, it is a different conversation. But this comes from a place where you have a choice, and yet you choose something that is full of toxic chemicals. Who Has Funded Bhumi Pednekar's Company? Bhumi also revealed that she has funded her company herself. 'I had started investing money since the age of 17, from my very first salary, which was a cheque of Rs 7,000 from Yash Raj Films. The reason we could back Backbay is because of my investments. I splurge a lot of money on all the investments that I do," Bhumi shared. First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Raksha Bandhan 2025: Bhumi Pednekar Says Sister Samiksha ‘Can Go Up Against The World For Me'

This Raksha Bandhan, Bhumi Pednekar shares heartfelt memories with sister Samiksha, speaking about their bond, mutual protection, and journey from siblings to business partners. For Bhumi Pednekar and her sister Samiksha, the word 'Raksha" in Raksha Bandhan isn't just a tradition — it's a way of life. The Bollywood actor and her younger sister are inseparable, describing themselves as best friends first and siblings second. This year, they celebrate the festival not only as sisters but also as business partners, having recently ventured into a joint entrepreneurial journey. Speaking exclusively on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, Bhumi shares how their bond has evolved over the years, particularly after the loss of their father. 'My mom has pictures of us tying rakhis from the time we were little kids. Over the years, the meaning of the ritual has changed for us. At its core, Raksha Bandhan is all about supporting your sibling, protecting them, and just being there for each other," she says. Samiksha fondly recalls how the excitement for Rakhi would begin well before the festival. 'Rakhi would start 10 days before. We'd go rakhi shopping and send rakhis via post to our cousin brothers. To this day, we still do that," she says. Brothers Beyond Blood Over the years, the Pednekar sisters have also formed strong bonds with 'brothers from another mother." Bhumi reveals that she has several rakhi brothers, including Nikhil Shetty, whom she met during her early years in the industry. 'He was Shanoo Sharma's rakhi brother, and that's how I met him. He's one of the strongest people I know and has supported me so much. After I lost my father, he just took on that role so beautifully in my life." A Bond Forged in Loss and Strength The passing of their father was a turning point in the sisters' relationship. Samiksha recalls, 'When Dad passed away, Bhumi transformed so quickly. She took over my pain. She took over the responsibility of the house. I really felt that protection." Bhumi adds that stepping up for her family felt instinctive. 'It just happened very organically. We all stood up for each other. That's what a family unit does — you stand up when the other person is falling. To this day, the only person who truly, even emotionally, protects me from the world is my sister. Nobody can say anything about me in front of Samiksha. She can go up against the world for me." Now, the sisters are also co-founders of a venture they started together, navigating their professional relationship with the same ease they share at home. 'Without defining boundaries, we've figured out each other's boundaries," Bhumi says with a laugh. 'The beauty of our relationship is that we fight every five minutes. They might look like fights to the world, but to us, it's just our way of communicating." Standing Guard Against the Trolls As Bhumi stepped into the spotlight with her acting career, Samiksha found herself instinctively protective of her sister, especially against the darker side of fame. 'When she became an actor, social media was new. Somewhere in the middle of her career, it picked up, and the trolls came about. I would go on their page, report, and even comment back. Bhumi always told me not to engage with the trolls, but then how do you not engage when you see something like that? I would engage without telling her," Samiksha admits. More Than Sisters For the Pednekar sisters, their relationship is a blend of sibling banter, shared grief, mutual protection, and unwavering support. Whether they're tying rakhis, managing their business, or simply bickering over trivial things, their bond is a testament to the enduring strength of sisterhood. As Bhumi sums it up, 'We're not just sisters. We're each other's protectors, cheerleaders, and partners in everything life throws our way."
