American Millennials find Scottish accents the most trustworthy in the world

American Millennials find Scottish accents the most trustworthy in the world Our US cousins were polled on which brouges put them at ease. 12 states voted the Scottish accent the most trustworthy (Image: George Clerk via Getty Images ) We Scots are famed for having a gorgeous range of accents, but a new study has revealed that our voices are also see as trustworthy to certain people. Many of our American cousins across the Atlantic associated a good, Scottish brogue with honesty and dependability. This won't come as a huge surprise to many of us, given that those in the US are constantly swooning over a Scots accent, and our voices have even been deemed the UK's sexiest. ‌ But the study, carried out by Podcastle, dug a little deeper and found that our lilt is especially warming to US Millennials. That generation, who are mostly now in their 30s, found the Scottish accent to be the most trustworthy in the world. ‌ This comes off the back of a survey in 2023, which saw the Scottish accent voted by Americans as the most charming in the world, surpassing all other competing accents in Britain. In this previous poll it was also named the second most beautiful accent, as well as the second most attractive accent in the world. Scottish was also the second most calming and the second most funny accent. The Podcastle poll took in the opinions of 1,000 Americans, and found that our Stateside cousins were more inclined to trust people on this side of the Atlantic. Article continues below And there was a distinct lack of trust for people with a New York accent. Less than one in 10 found in trustworthy, and a Southern American lilt was significantly preferred to their Big Apple compatriots. Americans found UK accents - especially RP and Scottish brogues - to be the most trustworthy (Image: Podcastle ) A total of 12 US states voted the Scottish accent the most trustworthy, but it wasn't the overall winner as the Received Pronunciation (RP) accent was voted the most trustworthy on the whole. ‌ The stereotypical well-articulated, south of England brogue was seen as comforting and honest by a whopping 26 states in the poll. The RP accent, which has also been known as 'The Queen's English' or 'BBC English' - a term in the Cambridge Dictionary - was the most appealing and calming for 40 per cent of Americans. The most attractive accent overall was the British RP accent, known as 'the Queen's English' (Image: Samir Hussein/WireImage ) ‌ It was also revealed that those sporting this style of pronunciation are the most desired for podcasts, audiobooks, YouTube, and TikTok. The Southern American accent came in second place, with 31 per cent of Americans saying they found it trustworthy and 70 per cent associating it with calmness. However, it still trailed the British RP accent in every major trust and preference category. The British RP accent wasn't just seen as trustworthy, but also proved to be a hit in the romance department. ‌ Nearly 40 per cent of Baby Boomers in the US said they find British accents the most romantic, preferring them over Latin American or Australian tones. And while Millennials were more inclined to trust a Scot, Gen-Z leant towards a more neutral American tone. ‌ Arto Yeritsyan, Podcastle's CEO explained how this accent can influence how Americans feel about the speaker. Benedict Cumberbatch's accent is a textbook example of British RP (Image:) The CEO said: 'Whether it's David Attenborough, Emma Thompson, or Benedict Cumberbatch, it's clear that the British RP accent signals intelligence, warmth, and trustworthiness to American ears." Article continues below The expert highlighted the importance of accents in media, saying: "This isn't just about how we speak – it's about how we're perceived. "For content creators, choosing the right voice can be just as important as what's being said.'

Billie Eilish's Debut Reaches A Major Milestone, Marking A First For Her

Billie Eilish's When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? has now spent 250 weeks on the U.K.'s ... More Official Albums chart, a first for the singer. STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN - APRIL 23: Billie Eilish performs at Avicii Arena on April 23, 2025 in Stockholm, Sweden. (Photo by Samir Hussein/WireImage for Live Nation) By the time When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? rolled around, Billie Eilish was already a star in the music world. That album, her first full-length, turned her into a global powerhouse and a true hitmaker. The project has barely waned in popularity in the years since its release, and people are still consuming the set, which produced hits like "You Should See Me in a Crown,' "Bury a Friend,' and of course, the worldwide sensation "Bad Guy." Eilish remains a force to be reckoned with on the charts in the United Kingdom, and this week is a notable one as her entire catalog climbs and her debut project reaches a major milestone. As of this frame, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? has spent 250 weeks on the Official Albums chart. That tally ranks the most consumed projects in the U.K., blending both pure purchases and streaming activity. This set marks the first for Eilish to make it to that notable landmark number. When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? has spent four more weeks on the Official Albums chart than both Happier Than Ever and Hit Me Hard and Soft – her other two full-lengths – combined. It lived at No. 1 for three frames, while both titles that followed only managed one stay on the throne. When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? has spent even more time on the Official Albums Streaming chart than the main all-consumption list. The introductory title has now reached 260 weeks — or five full years — on the list of the most played releases on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and others. Though When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? still appears on both the Official Albums Sales and Official Physical Albums rankings this frame, it has yet to crack 200 weeks on either of those rankings. Both of Eilish's other full-lengths are also present on the Official Albums chart this time around. Happier Than Ever is up to 138 stays. Hit Me Hard and Soft, her most recent full-length, only needs one more turn on the tally before it reaches its first full year. The set will almost certainly make it to that number next time around, as it's still living inside the top 10. Amazingly, Eilish's first EP Don't Smile at Me is just shy of that 250-week milestone. The several-song-long effort has racked up 246 stays somewhere on the 100-spot roster. It will likely become her next project to hit that landmark number sometime soon, although it does not take up space on the tally at the moment.

Kate Middleton's seven-ingredient breakfast smoothie recipe

The Princess of Wales reportedly enjoys a smoothie in the mornings (Image: Samir Hussein, Samir Hussein/WireImagevia Getty Images) Kate Middleton reportedly starts her day with a surprising, nutrient-packed drink that may raise eyebrows. Known for her commitment to a healthy diet and consistent workout regimen, the Princess of Wales blends seven 'powerhouse' ingredients for her morning burst. It might be tempting to imagine a Royal twist on the typical morning coffee or tea, but no, Kate's choice is a 'green juice', as reported by Hello! and MailOnline. Her mix is said to include a robust blend of kale, spinach, romaine lettuce, coriander, blueberries, spirulina powder, and just a small teaspoon of matcha powder. On first impression, it appears to be the epitome of healthfulness. But does it live up to the hype? The Mirror sought the opinion of Helen Bell, a nutritionist from Help & Advice, regarding this drink, which some have humorously referred to as 'pondwater' after trying it. Kate Middleton is often praised for sustaining a healthy lifestyle (Image: PA) Remarkably, she highlighted that four components of this beverage are classified as 'superfoods', describing highly nutritional products. She explained: "In my experience, the term 'superfood' is often thrown around, but it generally refers to foods that are nutrient-rich and beneficial for health and wellbeing. "In Kate's smoothie, several ingredients could be considered superfoods. For instance, kale, spinach, and spirulina are packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Blueberries are another example, known for their high antioxidant content. Matcha, a type of green tea, is known for its concentration of catechins, which are natural antioxidants." Helen suggested that including these elements in your diet may 'contribute positively to cholesterol levels'. Leafy greens, such as kale and spinach, receive particular acclaim for their capacity to reduce 'bad cholesterol (LDL) levels'. In a separate interview, she also labelled spinach a 'powerhouse' of nutrients and antioxidants, which are thought to protect the body from potential chronic diseases. Several studies highlight a possible link between spinach intake and reduced cancer risk too, though more research is required. Reports suggest the cocktail may include kale, spinach, romaine lettuce, blueberries, spirulina powder, matcha powder (small teaspoon) and coriander (stock image) (Image: Getty Images/EyeEm) She continued: "Blueberries also play a role in heart health, potentially improving cholesterol levels and supporting cardiovascular health. While no single food will drastically change cholesterol levels, a balanced diet rich in these ingredients can certainly support heart health." But it's not all about the benefits - Helen has a word of caution regarding the green juice trend. She explained: "While the ingredients in the smoothie are generally beneficial, it's important to be mindful of individual dietary needs. "For example, those with thyroid issues might need to moderate their intake of raw kale and spinach due to their goitrogen content. Spirulina and matcha are potent, so I advise starting with small amounts to ensure they agree with your system. "In my experience, balance is key, and it's always wise to consult with a healthcare provider, especially if you have specific health concerns." Have you got a story to share? Get in touch at
