JP had made call for total revolution from Bihar : Rai
Patna, June 5 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Home Affairs and senior BJP leader Nityanand Rai said that great freedom fighter and revolutionary Jaiprakash Narayan had given the call for total revolution from the land of Bihar to protest the dictatorial government of Congress in the mid-seventies. Rai, while speaking on the occasion of "Sampoorna Kranti Diwas ", said that Congress, in blatant disregard of the will of the people, had imposed emergency and arrested opposition leaders. Under the leadership of Jaiprakash Narain, youths and students had launched such a powerful movement that shook the very foundation of the Congress regime, he added. Many young lives were sacrificed during the struggle for the restoration of democracy, he further added. " JP had given the call for total revolution on June 5, 1974 from historic Gandhi Maidan in Patna during his massive public meeting ", Rai recalled. BJP leader pointed out that some leaders who once stood shoulder to shoulder with J P, eventually betrayed his ideals and sided with Congress to enjoy the power. RJD leader Lalu Prasad was one such leader who not only betrayed JP but also the very spirit of democracy and the total Revolution, he added. " Lalu's actions proved that both Congress and RJD share the same political character—marked by scams, dynasty politics, corruption, and divisive politics ", he stressed. BJP leader further said that Congress and RJD, together, ruined Bihar, making it weak and tarnishing its image. Bihar would never forgive Lalu for betraying JP. Tejashwi Yadav was also part of the same legacy, and the people of Bihar were well aware of it, he maintained. Taking a sharp dig at Rahul Gandhi, Rai said that the Congress party had always followed a policy of surrender. Be it before terrorists or on matters of national security, Congress had repeatedly bowed down, he pointed out. He criticized Rahul Gandhi for using terms like 'surrender,' stating that such language dishonoured the sacrifice and valour of the armed forces. People would give a befitting reply to Congress in the next Bihar assembly elections, he warned. UNI KKS BD
