A stunning timelapse shows the Perseid meteor shower's dazzling display of 'shooting stars' in Turkey 's Samsun. According to Nasa, the Perseids peaks in mid-August and is considered the best meteor shower of the year. They leave long "wakes" of light and colour behind them in the Earth's atmosphere, with around 50 to 100 meteors seen per hour. Stargazers across the UK caught sight of the spectacle in the early hours of Wednesday (13 July) as the meteor shower hit its annual peak.

Turkish Trade Deficit Shrank 12.1% in July, Minister Says
Türkiye's trade deficit narrowed 12.1% year-on-year to $6.4 billion in July, Trade Minister Omer Bolat said on Saturday. Bolat said exports rose to $25 billion in July, while imports stood at $31.4 billion. He made the comments during a press conference in Samsun.

Stuttgart hoping to offload Silas at Samsunspor
According to Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, Silas Katompa Mvumpa has agreed to join Samsunspor Kulübü. It is believed that the club from the Black Sea region on Türkiye's north coast, has already submitted a first formal offer to VfB Stuttgart. Whether the offer from the Turkish first division club will be sufficient to convince the DFB-Pokal winners to agree a transfer remains to be seen. It was recently reported that the Swabians have put a price tag of €8million euros on the Congolese attacker. The right-footer is tied to the Bundesliga club until next summer, but early separation could occur if the clubs reach an agreement. Last season, the 26-year-old spent time on loan at Red Star Belgrade where he registered 5 goals and 1 assist in 16 league matches.
