Samsung sends out warning email to Galaxy users amid 'important changes'

Samsung customers have been given a warning that their accounts may be deleted if they don't act now. Samsung users may want to keep an eye on their email inboxes as the tech company is sending out important emails that customers won't want to miss. This message is being sent to warn certain customers that if action isn't taken then their account may be deleted. This isn't the first company to send out these important emails, as Google first made the move to start deleting accounts back in 2023. The email was sent to users who they deemed have been inactive for too long, and it now seems that Samsung is the next firm to implement the measure. ‌ In Google's email, users were informed that they must log into their account or face being deleted, reports the Express. At the time, Google said: "If a Google Account has not been used or signed into for at least two years, we may delete the account and its contents." ‌ In Samsung's newest email, they have warned customers that if they don't access their accounts immediately then they are at risk of losing data. The email goes on to inform users of the aspects of their account that will be deleted and why their account is at risk. The message said: "Thank you for using Samsung account. We are writing to inform you of important changes related to using your Samsung account. "Samsung is implementing an inactive Samsung account policy to protect the data of users who have not used their account for an extended period of time. "Once this policy is implemented, Samsung accounts that have not been logged in to or used for twenty-four (24) months will be considered inactive and will be subject to deletion. ‌ "If an account is deleted, access to the account will be restricted and all data linked to the account will be deleted. Accounts and data that are deleted cannot be restored." Only those who haven't logged into their accounts in the two year period will receive this email. If you are one of the few who see this email appear in your inbox and you don't want to lose your data, it is important to gain access to your account before it is shut down for good. ‌ Simply by logging into your account, you will be able to keep your data safe and available. Samsung added: "To prevent your account from being deleted, and to ensure proper use of Samsung Services, your account must have at least one usage/activity every twenty-four (24) months." Accounts are set to start being deleted from July 31, giving users a few weeks to gain access to their older accounts. ‌ It is said that data such as Samsung Cloud data, stored photos, device backups, Samsung Wallet and Samsung Health details, downloaded apps, Find My Mobile data are set to be deleted on inactive accounts. If Samsung users are worried about any of this data being deleted on an old or new account, this can all be saved by logging in, which should remove the account from the July deadline. For those who don't receive the email, their current and old accounts are safe from being deleted. However, this doesn't mean that these users won't receive the email in the future. Samsung to start deleting inactive accounts soon: Here's how to stop it

Samsung, the South Korean tech giant, has decided to permanently delete all accounts that have been inactive for 24 months as a new move to ensure better data protection. Emails are being sent out to the IDs associated with users' Samsung accounts with a personalized date mentioned on each of them. If the user fails to take any action by the specified date, their account and all data associated with it will be permanently deleted by the company. This new 'inactive Samsung account policy' is aimed at preventing the personal data of users from being tampered with due to prolonged periods of inactivity which could increase risks of leakage. Data from your Google Account will still be secure since that is completely separate from a Samsung account. 'As per our service's policy, your data in Samsung Cloud including data stored in Smart TV, Family Hub, and Galaxy Wearable will be deleted,' the email reads. All such warning messages to intimate customers about this move will be sent before July 31. Since Samsung accounts are required to access any Galaxy device, it's fairly staple for all customers of the company to have one. If you wish to protect your data from being erased, simply log in to your account using a Galaxy device once again to inform the system that you are still an active user and wish to continue with your previous account. If you fail to do so by the date mentioned in your warning email, the company will consider that you no longer wish to receive the data stored on your previous account and delete all such material. Make sure you are still logged into the email associated with your Samsung account, otherwise you may never receive the warning mail. For those using a secondary Samsung account, the same procedure applies. If you switched to another mobile brand but wish to keep your hold account intact, make sure you log into it once before the assigned deadline.
