While India stood together, BJP attacked Cong online: Baghel

Calling for a 'all parties meeting', former CM Bhupesh Baghel reiterated that Congress stands with the govt but they demand transparency over the ceasefire agreement with Pakistan .Baghel further said, "The BJP spokesperson's statement that revenge was taken raises many questions," he said. "What happened to the four-five terrorists from Pahalgam? Were they caught or killed? Who is responsible for the security lapse? Is the home minister resigning?" Speaking at a press conference in New Delhi on Monday, the AICC general secretary said that his party stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the Armed Forces. Baghel cited the 1971 war, commenting, "Despite US pressure, Indira Gandhi divided Pakistan into two." He questioned whether the govt changed its policy under US pressure. Baghel also noted that while the Congress cancelled all its programmes, including 'Samvidhan Bachao Abhiyan', BJP attacked the Congress on social media, "When the whole country was united in a time of crisis, BJP leaders were making political statements on social media. " he said. The Congress leader demanded transparency from the govt. He questioned whether the US President's ceasefire announcement was a diplomatic failure. "Have we accepted third-party mediation? Has the Shimla Agreement been cancelled? We were fighting against terror, and suddenly the Kashmir issue came up!" He called for a special session of Parliament to discuss the terms of the ceasefire, "A meeting of all parties should be called to address these concerns."

Constitution is soul of India, will fight to defend it: Bhupinder Singh Hooda in Nuh

Chandigarh: Former Haryana chief minister on Tuesday said that the Constitution is the soul of the nation, and every Congress worker in the country would fight to ensure that it remains strong and efforts to weaken it are defeated. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Hooda, who visited Nuh on Tuesday under 'Samvidhan Bachao Abhiyan,' addressed a public meeting here on Tuesday. "The Constitution is the soul of this country, and it binds the whole country in one thread. But today, there is an attempt to weaken the power of the Constitution, the federal structure of the country, and constitutional institutions," he said. "Today, somewhere inappropriate comments are being made on the Supreme Court, somewhere the investigation agencies are being misused under political malice. Somewhere, there is an attempt to hurt reservation, somewhere the electoral processes are being tampered with. All these are activities that weaken the democracy and Constitution of the country," he pointed out. "The Congress will not let these plans of the succeed. This is the reason why Congress is taking this message to the people through a campaign, because the Constitution is the protector of the country... every citizen of the country will also have to come forward as the protector of the Constitution," he stated. Responding to questions from reporters, Hooda said Congress welcomes the caste census. "The party and especially Rahul Gandhi raised this demand from every platform. Finally, BJP bowed down and agreed to the caste census. Now, the Congress will also demand the removal of the 50 percent cap on reservation," he said. Commenting on the Punjab govt stopping Haryana's share of water, Hooda said this is an attack on the federal structure, and the Congress will strongly oppose it. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now "If the govt takes appropriate steps in the interest of Haryana, Congress will support it. Similarly, if the central govt takes any action against Pakistan, then Congress stands strongly with the govt. Congress has given this assurance to the govt in the all-party meeting," he added. Replicate Telangana model for caste-based survey: Cong

1 2 Ranchi: Ahead of the Congress party 's " Samvidhan Bachao Abhiyan " scheduled for Tuesday, Jharkhand Congress in-charge K Raju on Monday appealed to the Union govt to adopt the ' Telangana model ' for conducting caste-based surveys across the country. Addressing the media on Monday, Raju said Congress has been demanding a caste-based survey for the last several years but met with apathy from the govt. "Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tagged those who demanded the caste survey as "Urban Naxals". Now that the Centre has agreed to conduct the caste survey, we appeal to them to adopt the Telangana model while conducting the survey. The Congress-led govt in Telangana has successfully conducted the caste survey and has emerged as a successful model," Raju said. He added that the census conducted every 10 years gave very little information about the population. "However, Telangana conducted an extensive caste survey extracting various information about the castes which later could be used for the overall development of people. So, it's our demand that the Centre follows the model and declare a timeline for the survey. They also should publish all information for the knowledge of the public," Raju said, acknowledging the importance of caste-based survey in ensuring social justice and empowerment to all. Senior Congress leaders, including AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge and party general secretary K C Venugopal, former Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel will join the state-wide "Samvidhan Bachao Yatra" on Tuesday. The rally will also be organised in all district within a week. Raju said during the rally, the party would raise three demands. "First will be on withdrawing the arbitrary 50% ceiling on reservation, so that reservation can be granted based on population. We will inform the people about the importance of removing the ceiling during the rally. Second and most importantly, the declining monetary allocation in the Union budget for the SC and ST in the last 11 years will also be highlighted. The third focus will be on the issue of reservation of seats in private institutes for SC and ST students," Raju said. After the rally, an executive committee meeting of the state Congress unit will be convened in Ranchi, where the AICC president and other senior party leaders will be present. In the meeting, many important decisions for the party would be taken, Raju added.

‘Save Constitution rally' will confront Modi govt's attack on democracy: Baij

Raipur: The Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee will launch the ' Samvidhan Bachao Abhiyan ' ( Save Constitution Rally ) in Bilaspur on May 8, as part of a nationwide campaign directed by the All India Congress Committee (AICC). Following the Bilaspur event, similar rallies will be organised at all district headquarters and assembly constituencies across Chhattisgarh. The campaign will then extend to a door-to-door initiative. During a meeting, Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CPCC) president Deepak Baij said that the 'Save Constitution Campaign' will reach every household. He said the campaign aims to confront the Modi govt's alleged continuous attacks on the constitution and democratic institutions, its politics of vendetta, economic mismanagement, and systematic undermining of social justice. Baij added that the campaign will amplify the voices of ordinary citizens, highlight grassroots concerns, and reaffirm the values enshrined in the constitution. The meeting of leaders and legislators from the Bilaspur division was convened by Baij and AICC co-secretary and state co-in-charge Vijay Jangid to prepare for the Bilaspur rally . Former minister Umesh Patel was appointed as the convenor for the Bilaspur division rally. Jangid said that through this campaign, the Congress is united in defending the constitution, upholding the values of freedom, equality, and justice, and fighting for the rights, dignity, and future of all Indians. He affirmed the party's unwavering commitment to fighting for the poor, advocating for their rights and their voices. Meanwhile, the AICC reportedly directed all state presidents to raise the issue of a caste-based census in a planned and systematic manner. The AICC asked all state committees to appoint monitoring teams and observers at both state and district levels. By May 30, 'chaupals' (community meetings), rallies, and door-to-door outreach campaigns will be conducted in every assembly constituency, ensuring the participation of social workers, teachers, lawyers, shopkeepers, and SHG members. These efforts should communicate Congress's stance and Rahul Gandhi's leadership to the public while exposing the BJP's anti-caste census policies, AICC said. A few days ago, Baij and former CM Bhupesh Baghel had spoken against BJP govt's ineffectiveness to represent the state's interests.
