Pictured: Woman found dismembered on tourist beach - as local bar owner is arrested
A woman whose dismembered body was found on a tourist beach in Gran Canaria has been pictured. Colombian national Triana Arias, 41, was stabbed in the neck before the killer tried to dismember her body. Ms Arias had texted a friend to say she was going to a party but was not seen alive after that, according to police. Her body was later found by a member of the public on Enanos Beach in San Andrés on April 27, after an attempt was made to dispose of it elsewhere. Part of Arias' neck was cut off, and police believe she was unconscious and bleeding to death as the killer tried to dismember her legs. Police arrested a bar owner in Las Palmas on suspicion of murder on Tuesday. A search has been conducted at both his house and business premises. The bar was sealed off with police tape and was locked down by armed police. Forensic experts from the Las Palmas Institute of Forensic Medicine (IML) conducted preliminary investigations at the scene before carrying out an autopsy. Locals were left 'shocked and concerned' by the incident and gathered behind a police cordon to observe the investigation, according to Spanish news outlet Canarias7. Police have not ruled out additional arrests as the investigation is ongoing.

A COLOMBIAN woman whose body was found dismembered on a Gran Canaria beach has been identified as 41-year-old Triana Arias. It comes after local police arrested the owner of a popular bar in Las Palmas for his alleged connection to the horrific murder. 3 3 3 Tragic Arias had previously texted a mate to say that she was going to a party - but she was not seen alive after that. Her hacked up corpse was discovered by a local who spotted her on Los Enanos Beach in San Andrés on April 27. Police believe the person who killed her had first stabbed her in the neck before trying to dismember her body. They also suspect she was unconscious and bleeding to death while the attacker chopped at her legs. According to local eyewitness reports, the arrested suspect is the owner of the popular Arenales Bar Cafeteria. The investigation is still ongoing, and police have not ruled out further arrests. Part of Arias' neck was also hacked off. Cops think this was an attempt to dispose of her body in a container or bags before the corpse was left on a San Andres beach. The bar where the owner was arrested has now been sealed off with police tape and an armed guard. After her body was found by a passer-by, the Armed Forces' Homicide Unit was deployed to the search for her killer. The bar owner was arrested at his home in Las Torres on May 6, and is due to appear in court either on Wednesday or Thursday. A search has been conducted at both his house and business premises. Several officers in balaclavas took away a number of sealed plastic bags as they collected potential evidence. It is not the only tragedy to have struck the Canary Islands in recent days. A man in his late 40s plunged 100 feet to his death while trying to take a selfie from a hotel rooftop on the islands. He is reported to have fallen to the promenade while trying to take the snapshot in the early hours of Sunday morning. Emergency services rushed to the scene of the incident, but he was pronounced dead upon their arrival.
