A COLOMBIAN woman whose body was found dismembered on a Gran Canaria beach has been identified as 41-year-old Triana Arias.
It comes after local police arrested the owner of a popular bar in Las Palmas for his alleged connection to the horrific murder.

Tragic Arias had previously texted a mate to say that she was going to a party - but she was not seen alive after that.
Her hacked up corpse was discovered by a local who spotted her on Los Enanos Beach in San Andrés on April 27.
Police believe the person who killed her had first stabbed her in the neck before trying to dismember her body.
They also suspect she was unconscious and bleeding to death while the attacker chopped at her legs.
According to local eyewitness reports, the arrested suspect is the owner of the popular Arenales Bar Cafeteria.
The investigation is still ongoing, and police have not ruled out further arrests.
Part of Arias' neck was also hacked off.
Cops think this was an attempt to dispose of her body in a container or bags before the corpse was left on a San Andres beach.
The bar where the owner was arrested has now been sealed off with police tape and an armed guard.
After her body was found by a passer-by, the Armed Forces' Homicide Unit was deployed to the search for her killer.
The bar owner was arrested at his home in Las Torres on May 6, and is due to appear in court either on Wednesday or Thursday.
A search has been conducted at both his house and business premises.
Several officers in balaclavas took away a number of sealed plastic bags as they collected potential evidence.
It is not the only tragedy to have struck the Canary Islands in recent days.
A man in his late 40s plunged 100 feet to his death while trying to take a selfie from a hotel rooftop on the islands.
He is reported to have fallen to the promenade while trying to take the snapshot in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Emergency services rushed to the scene of the incident, but he was pronounced dead upon their arrival.

German authorities break silence on ‘constructive' search for Madeleine McCann

The latest search for Madeleine McCann has been described as 'very productive' by Braunschweig head prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters. The search, conducted by German and Portuguese authorities, concluded as planned, Mr Wolters said. It comes after reports in The Sun that samples were taken during last week's search, amid claims of bones and clothing fibres being discovered. According to the report, the bones were initially thought to be animal remains but have been retained for forensic examination. Madeleine disappeared in 2007, aged three, from the resort of Praia da Luz in Portugal, where she was on holiday with her family. The latest search for evidence comes 18 years after her disappearance. She was left sleeping by her parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, and vanished as they went for dinner in a nearby restaurant. Search teams concluded their operation in neighbouring Atalaia, near the city of Lagos, after three days of scouring scrubland and abandoned structures. German prosecutors requested the search as part of their continued attempts to source evidence to implicate prime suspect Christian Brueckner. He is in prison for raping a 72-year-old woman in Praia da Luz in 2005 and is due to be released from jail in September if no further charges are brought. According to reports, . Another letter shows the suspect telling Mr Wolters that 'the investigation will be dropped', The Sun reported. In October 2024, Brueckner was cleared by a German court of unrelated sexual offences, alleged to have taken place in Portugal between 2000 and 2017. How the search unfolded Small teams of a dozen-or-so officers spent three days last week in the beating sun as they scoured derelict farmhouses and outbuildings in the stretch of scrubland just over a mile from where Madeleine was last seen. The 120-acre area, off a dramatic clifftop path along the coast between Atalaia and Lagos, is said to have once been populated by a farming community, but it has long been abandoned because it is so arid. Officers from Portugal's most senior force, the Policia Judiciaria, shifted rocks and rubble in the unrelenting heat. They used shovels and chainsaws as they battled with rock-hard ground and overgrown vegetation. Fire crews helped them to pump out a disused well at one derelict farm building, which was littered with graffiti. When one local policeman was asked by a journalist what they expected to find, he rolled his eyes and shrugged, before saying: 'You tell me.'

Louisiana father charged with murder after leaving daughter, one, inside 105F car for NINE hours

A Louisiana father has been arrested for murder after he allegedly left his infant daughter inside a car for more than nine hours, with temperatures inside reaching 105F. Joseph Boatman, 32, was detained on Sunday after his 21-month-old girl was left buckled inside a car in the Madisonville area. Deputies with the St Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office were called to a residence just before noon after a family member found the baby unresponsive inside the vehicle, police said. Authorities soon discovered that Boatman picked his daughter up from a family member's home earlier that morning after he 'consumed multiple alcoholic beverages'. He then strapped his child into a car seat around 2.30am and 'went back inside the residence and never returned to the vehicle,' police said. The temperature in Madisonville that day reached 95F, meaning it felt more like 105F inside the car. 'This is a devastating loss that no family ever wants to face,' Sheriff Randy Smith said. 'When a child is left in a vehicle, especially on a day when the heat index climbs over 100 degrees, the outcome can turn deadly in a matter of minutes. This case involved compromised judgment, and the result was heartbreaking.' Boatman is facing a second-degree murder charge and is currently being held on a $75,000 cash bond, according to his arrest report. This is not his first run-in with the law, as Boatman is also a registered sex offender. In June 2019, Boatman was nabbed by the FBI, along with more than 60 others as part of Operation Broken Heart - an initiative designed by Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force taskforce and Attorney General Jeff Landry's Louisiana Bureau of Investigation. Boatman was convicted for the online solicitation of a minor, according to records obtained by Boatman's daughter was the fifth child to die in a hot car in the U.S. this year, according to Kids And Car Safety. At least 1,130 children have died in hot vehicles in the country since 1990, and at least another 75,000 survived with injuries, the non-profit stated. Every year, an average of 38 children die in hot cars and about 88 per cent of them are three or younger, per the statistics. This comes after a one-year-old boy was found dead inside a hot pickup truck in southwest Albuquerque on May 25. Police said the 'very tragic incident' occurred while the child was supposed to be under the supervision of a male relative, who authorities say simply forgot he was there.
