Pictured: Woman found dismembered on tourist beach - as local bar owner is arrested
A woman whose dismembered body was found on a tourist beach in Gran Canaria has been pictured. Colombian national Triana Arias, 41, was stabbed in the neck before the killer tried to dismember her body. Ms Arias had texted a friend to say she was going to a party but was not seen alive after that, according to police. Her body was later found by a member of the public on Enanos Beach in San Andrés on April 27, after an attempt was made to dispose of it elsewhere. Part of Arias' neck was cut off, and police believe she was unconscious and bleeding to death as the killer tried to dismember her legs. Police arrested a bar owner in Las Palmas on suspicion of murder on Tuesday. A search has been conducted at both his house and business premises. The bar was sealed off with police tape and was locked down by armed police. Forensic experts from the Las Palmas Institute of Forensic Medicine (IML) conducted preliminary investigations at the scene before carrying out an autopsy. Locals were left 'shocked and concerned' by the incident and gathered behind a police cordon to observe the investigation, according to Spanish news outlet Canarias7. Police have not ruled out additional arrests as the investigation is ongoing.

Authorities believe the woman's alleged warped executor first stabbed her in the neck and chopped at her legs before attempting to butcher her body while she was unconscious and bleeding to death. Part of her neck was also hacked off. Cops also suspect the deranged killer attempted to dispose of the tourist's body in a container or bags before her corpse was abandoned on the beach, the outlet reported. The investigation is ongoing. Police have not ruled out additional arrests. The bar owner is expected to appear in court by Thursday.
