ICE agents in San Jose call police due to protester presence at operation
San Jose Police confirmed there were ICE agents in the city on Tuesday afternoon conducting an operation. The agents were conducting an operation near Snell Avenue and Blossom Hill Road, police said. During the operation, ICE agents contacted the San Jose Police and told them they needed assistance due to protesters yelling. San Jose Police said a lieutenant was sent to make sure that no other crimes were occurring and to remind them that they do not get involved in immigration enforcement. San Jose police confirmed ICE agents were in the city on June 3. Photos taken from a video posted to Instagram show agents on Blossom Hill Road. channel408_bayarea via Instagram Police said no crimes occurred, and the lieutenant left the scene not long after. Video posted to Instagram by channel408_bayarea shows what appears to be ICE agents on Blossom Hill Road. According to their post, the agents were there sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Police have not said how many protesters were in the area.

Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run crash in San Jose; suspect driver arrested
A pedestrian died from injuries suffered in a hit-and-run crash in San Jose early Friday morning, and the suspect driver was arrested, police said. The collision happened at about 2:45 a.m. in the area of West Virginia Street and Almaden Avenue just east of the Highway 87/280 junction. The San Jose Police Department said in a social media post that the crash involved two pedestrians, and one was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver fled from the scene but was apprehended a short time later, police said. Streets in the area were closed as officers processed the crash scene. Police arrest suspect who allegedly entered San Jose woman's bedroom and sexually assaulted her
A man who allegedly made his way into a San Jose woman's bedroom in the middle of the night and sexually assaulted her was arrested, police said Wednesday. In a press release, the San Jose Police Department said on May 22 at about 2:22 a.m., officers responded to a home in the city's downtown area. They learned that a man had entered the woman's home through an unlocked door and went into her bedroom while she was sleeping. The victim told police the man got on top of her, covered her mouth to prevent her from screaming, and proceeded to sexually assault her. The man fled before officers arrived. During the course of the investigation, patrol officers recognized the description of the suspect as matching someone with whom they had contact the night before. Detectives identified the suspect as as 40-year-old Cong Tran of San Jose. At about 8:30 p.m., officers patrolling the same area located and arrested Tran, booking him into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on charges of sexual assault and burglary. Alleged copper thieves nabbed by San Jose police
SAN JOSE, Calif. - A man and a woman were arrested in San Jose over the weekend after police caught the two allegedly cutting down phone lines for copper. San Jose Police Department officers on patrol in the area of Meadowlands Lane and San Felipe Road near Silver Creek Valley Country Club came across the man during "an active copper theft in progress" on Saturday, according to a department statement. The SJPD said the man fled the scene after he was allegedly found cutting down overhead phone lines and slicing them into pieces before placing them in plastic bags on the side of the road. Police eventually found the man hiding in some bushes in the area and took him into custody. Officers also found heavy-duty wire cutters and more empty bags in the man's possession, according to a department statement. Police also found a woman waiting in a suspect vehicle "ready to haul away the stolen copper" down the road from where they found the man. The man and the woman were arrested on suspicion of several crimes, including grand theft, conspiracy and possession of burglary tools. Suspicious device in San Jose home rendered safe by bomb squad
SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Police Department's bomb squad has rendered a suspicious device inside a home safe on Friday night. Residents in the area of Toyon Court and Toyon Avenue had earlier been advised to shelter-in-place but that advisory was lifted. What we know Police said the incident began shortly after 5:30 p.m. The shelter-in-place, ordered as a precaution, was lifted at around 9:10 p.m. It is not clear how police became aware of the suspicious device. Further details on what the device was were not made available. Police blocked off Toyon Ave. from San Pablo Ave to Penitencia Creek Road while the advisory was in place. The roadways have since been reopened. Police at the scene could be seen interviewing area residents. The department's Special Operations Bomb Squad tactical vehicle was also at the scene. This is a developing story.
